The document provides instructions for creating chapter titles and brief summaries for the 15 chapters of the book "Iqbal". It explains that chapter titles should reflect Fatima's experiences and include 2-3 point form notes explaining how the title relates to events in the chapter. An example is provided for the first chapter with the title "Home Sweet Home" and point form notes describing Fatima's life as a child laborer. The document aims to help the reader take on the role of the author in naming and briefly summarizing each chapter from Fatima's perspective.
1. You Are the Author: Creating Chapter Titles
Name: Michael Adisaz 8-73
When an author creates chapter divisions, they must make several choices. Sometimes they
choose to simply number the chapters. This might be because they want readers to think for
themselves. Other times they use chapter titles to set the scene, create curiosity or foreshadow
upcoming events.
In this activity, you will take on the role of the author and create a title for each of the 15
chapters in Iqbal. Your titles should be what you think Fatima would have chosen as an
appropriate title to reflect and represent her experiences. Then you need to make 2-3 point form
notes which explain the events which made you think of this title.
