Penelitian ini didasarkan pada permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan representasi
matematis siswa SMP dan tingkat self-efficacy (keyakinan diri) siswa akan
kemampuannya dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut,
dilakukan penelitian dengan pembelajaran yang menggunakan situation-based learning
(SBL) berbantuan program geometer’s sketchpad (GSP). Adapun yang dikaji dalam
penelitian ini adalah masalah peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang
mendapat pembelajaran dengan situation-based learning (SBL) berbantuan program
geometer’s sketchpad (GSP) dan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa ditinjau dari
keseluruhan dan kategori kemampuan awal matematis siswa (atas, tengah, bawah), serta
perbedaan self-efficacy siswa setelah pembelajaran diberikan. Penelitian ini merupakan
penelitian quasi experiment (eksperimen semu) dengan desain penelitian menggunakan
nonequivalent control group design (desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen) dengan
teknik purposive sampling. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII
SMP Negeri 1 Kempo yang ada di Kabupaten Dompu Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat,
dengan sampel dua kelas yang dipilih secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan representasi matematis, angket self-efficacy, dan
lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualititatif. Analisis
kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t, uji Anova dua jalur, Anova satu jalur,
dan uji nonparametrik Mann-Whitney U. Analisis kualitatif dilakukan untuk menelaah
lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditinjau dari keseluruhan
peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang pembelajarannya
menggunakan situation-based learning (SBL) berbantuan program geometer's sketchpad
(GSP) lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa. Peningkatan
kemampuan representasimatematis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan situation-
based learning (SBL) berbantuan program geometer's sketchpad (GSP) lebih baik
daripada siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran biasa ditinjau dari kemampuan awal
matematis siswa kategori atas, tengah, dan bawah. Tidak terdapat interaksi antara
pembelajaran (situation-based learning (SBL) berbantuan program geometer's sketchpad
(GSP) dan pembelajaran biasa) dengan kemampuan awalmatematis (atas, tengah, bawah)
siswa dalam peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Terdapat perbedaan
peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mendapat Situation-Based
Learning (SBL) berbantuan Program Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP) ditinjau dari
kemampuan awal matematis siswa kategori atas, tengah, dan bawah. Self-efficacy siswa
yang mendapat situation-based learning (SBL) berbantuan program geometer's sketchpad
(GSP) tidak berbeda dibandingkan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa.

And Self-Efficacy of Junior High School Students.
This research was done on the basis of the fact that there was a lack of students’
mathematical representation ability as well as self-efficacy in accomplishing
mathematical task. To overcome the problem, this research employed situation-based
learning (SBL) assisted by geometer’s sketchpad program (GSP). This research focused
on students’ improvement in terms of mathematical representation ability between two
groups of students, namely those who were taught under situation-based learning (SBL)
assisted by geometer’s sketchpad program (GSP) and those who just got regular method
viewed from the whole students’ prior knowledge (high, average, and low). In addition,
this research also investigated the difference of students’ self-efficacy after being taught
through the assumed method. This research belongs to quasi experiment research
embracing the characteristic of nonequivalent control group design by using purposive
sampling. The population of this research was all students in grade eight of Junior High
School 1 Kempo found in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The sample
consisted of two classes which were taken randomly. The instruments used were test of
mathematical representation ability, questionnaire on self-efficacy, and observation sheet.
Data analysis was done quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative data were analyzed
through t-test, two-way Anova, one-way Anova, and non-parametric Mann-Whitney U
test. Meanwhile, qualitative data were done to analyze the observation sheet result. The
result of this research shows that viewed from the whole, students’ enhancement in their
mathematical representation ability taught under SBL assisted by GSP was better than
those who were taught under regular method. Also, there was no interaction between
learning process and students’ prior knowledge (high, average, low) in their mathematical
representation ability between these two groups. There was significant difference of ,
students’ enhancement in their mathematical representation ability taught under SBL
assisted by GSP viewed from students’ prior knowledge (high, average, low).
Furthermore, there was no significant difference in terms of self-efficacy between those
who were taught by SBL assisted by GSP with those who were taught under regular
method.
