1. Pitch: David Leighton, Bradley Hope, Sophie Gilroy & Callum Wilson
The title of our film:
Our movie is called M, which stands for Murder & Mystery, however we thought M was more catchy, and intriguing and fitting for the film noir genre.
Opening Sequence:
The intro is that two males, (evidently rivals…or binary opposites if you must) exchange words in which they decide where to “duel” for a mystery briefcase, when arriving at the duel they both see a woman there who it is evident they both know. They duel, and one of them dies stating, “M won’t succeed you know” which furthers the mystery. The surviving male then gives the woman the briefcase, and she subsequently stabs him and takes the briefcase.
The following plot synopsis:
The plot synopsis is then of the woman trying to keep the briefcase away from the mysterious “M” and not knowing whom she can and cannot trust, eventually it will end in a police station where the bent police fight the good ones for the briefcase. The ending will be ambiguous as to who survives.
Creative Techniques:
As you can see our opening sequence leaves a lot of enigmas and we intend to edit and filming to add a grey tinge on it to fit the noir genre. Furthermore we intend to use a spotlight on the last scene in reality to give it a stronger light scale.
Funding:
Funding issues will be relatively low because we are filming with a camera and doing it all ourselves, meaning we don’t have to pay anybody, and most props we use are either our own or from the college, meaning we don’t have to pay for them either.
Final 25 Words:
In essence, our film hopes to capture the imagination of an old genre, film noir, and bring it into the new age, we hope it will be both retro, and different, and gross very highly at box office.
