1. FOOT REFLEXOLOGY
DEFINITION
“It is the Therapeutic Method of Reliving Pain
by Stimulating Pre-Defined Pressure Points on
The Feet and Hands.”
FOOT REFLEXOLOGY
TREATMENT SESSION:
• Establishing physical contact
• Locate solar plexus with thumbs
• Apply pressure during client inhalation and
release during exhalation
• Repeat 3 to 6 times
• Locate diaphragm line
• Use walking technique over line to help
client relax.
Foot can be divided into 6 treatment areas:
Head
Chest
Abdomen
Pelvic area
Reproductive organs
Spinal area
STEPS:
1. Preliminaries:
The first step is relaxing the foot
Do each exercise to both foot.
A. With heels of hands vibrate the foot at the
broadest part.
B. Then between the ankles and heels.
C. Grasp all toes, support back of heel and
rotate foot several times in one direction
and then the other.
D. Hold foot as “D” & flex foot forward &
extend it back. Note flexibility.
E. Hold foot as in “E” then press quickly
with both thumbs.
F. Do the same thing with the fingers on the
front of the foot. This spread the toes.
G. Rotate each toe in both direction to check
tension.
METHOD OF USING THE THUMB
(FORFINGER) FOR COMPRESSION
MASSAGE
Using this technique in an inchworm
manner is referred to as working the area.
Zeroing in on a particular spot is called
direct contact.
LEVERAGE:
Place the fingers of the working hand over the
fingers of the supporting hand, so that you are
pressing the thumb toward the fingers. This
gives better leverage and prevents digging in
with your fingers.
PITUITARY GLAND:
Indirectly controls body growth, structure and
function as well as intellectual & sexual
development. The hypothalamus portion of
brain controls the pituitary gland by giving
feedback from the glands & nervous system.
PINEAL GLAND:
Function is unknown
It secretes a hormone that has some effect on
the ovary.
THYROID:
Secretes hormones that regulate body
metabolism so that oxygen consumption and
heat production keep pace with the body’s
needs and activities
Aids in regulating growth & development,
reproduction & resistance to infection.
PARATHYROID:
Maintain the proper levels of calcium &
phosphate levels in the blood for normal
excitability of nerves and muscles.

THYMUS:
Concerned with growth in early life and is
important to the immune system because the
thymus hormone assists white blood cells to
mature.
PANCREAS:
Produces the two principle hormones
controlling carbohydrate metabolism. One
hormone – INSULIN- plays a key role in the
metabolism. Of fat and protein as well.
ADRENAL GLANDS:
They secrete various controlling metabolism.
Influencing the concentration of sodium and
potassium in body fluids- exerting an influence
in general fluid & electrolyte balance affect
automatic response of the body.
GONADS: - The sex Glands
Female:- Ovary- produces the ovum (egg) and
produces hormones- Oestrogen, which is
intensified while ovum is maturing & during
pregnancy and menstruation. Progesterone-
prepares the uterus for pregnancy, and during
pregnancy protects the embryo and fosters
growth of the placenta. Promotes development
of mammary glands in the breast.
Male:- Testes – produce the sperm and the
hormone Testosterone.
