On the economic front,
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) chief Raghuram Rajan, who has
raised policy interest rates twice since taking office in September, said on Friday no
single data point will determine its next move on curtailing high inflation amid a weak
economy. India's wholesale price index rose to an eight-month high in October, driven
by costlier fuel and manufactured goods, raising the prospect of a fresh rate hike despite
the central bank governor's soothing words earlier on core retail inflation.
On
the Global front,
U.S. manufacturing output rose for a third straight month in
October even as automobile production fell, suggesting a broadening in activity in a
sector regaining momentum after hitting a speed bump early this year. Fed Vice Chair
Janet Yellen on Thursday robustly defended the Federal Reserve's bold steps to spur
economic growth.
