Oil prices fell further in Asia Friday following a sell-off on
Wall Street and concerns about unplanned refinery
shutdowns in the US midwest, analysts said. US
benchmark West Texas (WTI) Intermediate for
September delivery eased 19 cents to US$97.98 while
Brent crude for September was down 13 cents to
US$105.89 in mid-morning trade.
Former Transport Minister Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat has
called for the UN civil aviation body, ICAO, to step up its
role to prevent future tragedies such as MH370 and
MH17 from occurring.ICAO is the International Civil
Aviation Organisation, a specialised agency under the
auspices of United Nations to develop international
standards and recommended practices for national civil
aviation regulations.
The ringgit was traded weaker against the US dollar in
the early session Friday due to renewed interest for the
greenback, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2035/2065
against the greenback from 3.1950/1970 at 5pm
Thursday.The trader said market players are buying back
the dollar after their confidence in the US economy was
restored following the recent release of better US
economic data.
