Editor's Notes
First and foremost thank you for your time and consideration today. In terms of setting a quick agenda, I’ll consider this meeting successful if we accomplish 3 things:
I’d like to share with you a brief overview of SMT Learning
I’ve done some high-level due diligence on XYZ Corp and anticipated and handful of issues you may be facing; however I’d like to better understand your core objectives
And finally, understand if the initiatives at XYZ align to the work at SMT Learning and if the alignment might warrant your consideration in working together
Sound reasonable – great…let’s turn the page and shove off.
Founded back in 1985, SMT Plus Inc was founded in 1985 by our current CEO, James Blankenhorn. In its early years, SMT Plus was a major electronic circuit board design and prototype assembly company specializing in surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing and the miniaturization of electronics. In 1988, SMT Plus sold the manufacturing side of the business to Jabil Circuits.
After moving away from manufacturing, SMT Plus focused on the provision of corporate learning solutions for the electronics manufacturing sector.
We expanded our product and service offerings to include custom courseware solutions, generic off the shelf instructional kits and CD-ROM based courses as well as the authoring of numerous books and training manuals.
Today, SMT Plus has a proven track record of providing advanced learning solutions for private a public sector clients. We design, develop and implement corporate learning solutions that improve and optimize employee performance. Our expertise lies in knowledge infrastructures, platform design and content development.
Now our personnel have developed training solutions for energy, manufacturing, construction, telecommunications, transportation, environmental, finance, healthcare and government.
e-Learning as we know it really got its start back in 1999 but the reality is, it has been around for a lot longer. Traditional training and education has not been able to keep up with the demands. The speed of change and the introduction of the Internet forever changed the face of e-Learning in general but with the ability to take a course at any hour, in any location, the future shows that e-Learning is on track to become a $169 Billion industry by 2018.
SMT Learning is focused on building the custom solution that fits not only into your short term needs…but the long term growth for your organization by finding the right sized solution that enables and empowers your staff to be a part of the success.
There is a harsh reality within the world of Learning and Development that there are really only two options. Organizations are either making minimal investments in the ongoing Training and Development of their employees…or they are light years ahead of there competition with a strong focus on building a stronger tomorrow.
Employee Engagement and Employee Satisfaction are more than just buzz words. There is a real world cost to your employees not being happy with the jobs they do:
According to recently published figures from The Gallup Organization, the American workforce consists of 29% Engaged employees, 55% who are Not-Engaged and 16% who are Actively
Disengaged. That is a total of 71% of the workforce who are not “switched-on” when they are at work, are not paying full attention, or perhaps are even working against the organization’s goals.
Nearly ¾ of your staff is likely to be switched off…the cost of this challenge is not something that can be overlooked. If we assume that an employee makes $50,000 and that if they are not Engaged with the company they are only working at 50% capacity…a lack of engagement in a 100 person company is costing $1,750,000 (35% of payroll), and for a 1000 person company the cost is $17,500,000.
Learning and Development consistently has ranked in the top 3 reasons for both Engagement and Disengagement. When done right it has huge benefits that go far beyond just being more productive.
