2. CAMERA
SONY A6500
▸ I will be using my own camera to film my music
video because I have a confident
understanding of how to use it to the best of
it’s ability. I have a good knowledge of how to
change all the settings, and how to get the best
video quality out of the camera. It films in 4k
resolution, which is 3840 pixels × 2160 lines,
giving more detail to work with and allowing a
smother and easier post production process. It
also records in both 24fps (cinematic frame
rate) and in 120fps, which when interpreted as
24fps in premiere pro, provides excellent slow
motion. I plan to use a lot of slow motion in my
music video, and record in 4k. I have a range of
lenses to accompany the camera, both primes
and zooms, to get either a wide or close angle.
3. TRIPOD
VELBON EF-51
▸ This tripod is light, compact, robust and
perfect to carry around to use when I need
to get some of the shots that are static. I can
also use this to create a pan motion, and it
can be used as a mini jib by extending the
middle pole as far as possible, then lowering
it gently mid shot. The tripod has a ball head
which is smooth and allows me to create the
smooth pan motion I need in my video. The
base plate is also detachable, so I can keep
it attached to my camera at all times, making
it faster to attach to the tripod and then
quickly get the static shot I need. A tripod is
a vital tool in the production of my music
video to gain a variety of shots.
4. SD CARD
SANDISK EXTREME 128GB MICRO SD - SPEED CLASS 3
▸ This SD card is the most powerful 128gb on the
market, as delivers 4K Ultra HD and Full HD
video recording and playback, has transfer
speeds of up to 90mb/s, has up to 128gb of
storage capacity and is weatherproof,
shockproof, dust proof and temperature proof.
I’m using this card because it is one of the only
cards that will be able to handle recording 4k
resolution and 120fps without causing lagging
issues. It also makes my post production process
a lot faster because I can transfer the files to my
laptop at a very fast rate. The large capacity
means that I will not run out storage space while
recording, and therefore do not need to worry
about switching cards. And finally my footage
will be safe in the event that I drop the SD on the
floor, in water, dust or if the camera overheats.
5. COMPUTER
MACBOOK PRO 13’ 2016
▸ This is my laptop that I use daily, and I have
used it on previous video projects prior to this
music video, so I am very capable of using the
software and the laptop in conjunction with
one another. The laptop offers a smooth
editing process because it has a fast processor
and memory. It also has a large storage
capacity, and can easily create a backup of all
the video footage, so that it is safe and if
something happens to it on the card, I can still
access it on my computer. It can run all the
latest software such as the Adobe CC suite,
Final Cut Pro X, and more. It has a headphone
jack so I can plug in my headphones to edit,
and it has a big enough screen to see every
detail when editing.
6. SOFTWARE
ADOBE CC SUITE AND FINAL CUT PRO X
▸ To create a professional looking final project, I
am using industry standard software to
produce the music video. I will use Final Cut
Pro X to edit the bulk of the footage together
because of the simple and easy workspace it
provides, making cutting/merging and piecing
together the clips quick and easy. However I
will use the advanced colour grading features
such as Colour wheels, Histograms and Colour
Charts in Premiere Pro CC to colour grade the
footage. I will also use Adobe Photoshop and
Illustrator to produce the poster and Digipack
because I have a wide knowledge of both
programs, enabling me to create something I
think will fit the brief.
