In 2011, the YWCA offered various programs including girls' sports programs reaching over 390 girls, preschool programs attended by 121 children, summer day camps for over 180 children, and school age childcare for over 100 children. The free festival celebrates the multicultural richness of art and culture in the city through performances and activities hosted by over 30 arts, cultural, science, and community organizations. Last year's festival attracted 1,500 people and this year's event is estimated to draw 2,000. Scheduled activities include a youth chess tournament, children's pavilion with arts and crafts, and performances by student and professional musicians on an independent artist stage. The festival is organized by the West Park Cultural Center to promote the arts and support the surrounding communities.

Otterbein University hosted its first OtterThon dance marathon event to benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital. Over 100 students participated in dancing for seven straight hours while raising funds. Special guests from two families being helped by Nationwide Children's Hospital shared their stories. While the event may not raise as much as Ohio State's BuckeyeThon, organizers were pleased with the turnout and enthusiasm for supporting hospitalized children who cannot dance themselves.

A group of 6th graders in Michigan founded Kids 4 Afghan Kids in 1998 to help children in Afghanistan. Otterbein University hosted its first OtterThon dance marathon event to benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital. Over 100 students participated in dancing for seven straight hours while raising funds. Special guests from two families being helped by Nationwide Children's Hospital shared their stories. While the event may not raise as much as Ohio State's BuckeyeThon, organizers were pleased with the turnout and enthusiasm for supporting hospitalized children who cannot dance themselves.

A group of 6th graders in Michigan founded Kids 4 Afghan Kids in 1998 to help children in Afghanistan. Through fundraising efforts, the organization established a school for 1,200 children, a medical clinic, an orphanage, and a community well. Students have continued supporting the organization through college with activities like empty bowl fundraisers. The organization now aims to build a library and media center, and would use any prize money to stock it with materials and equipment.
Bloom Spokane 2011 Annual Report

For the past fifteen years, Branches of the Vine (BOV) a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization has been about the mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, empowering villages and educating children.
BOV promotes programs aimed at reducing suffering and meeting basic needs of remote rural populations, globally. BOV, sponsors salvation, education and health initiatives: medical and dental triage field teams, distribution of medicines and treated mosquito nets, seminars and training. Building schools, churches, KVIP toilet facilities and boring clean water wells. BOV sends a container to Ghana annually. The container (love container) includes teaching materials, teaching aids, library books, clothes, Bibles and blankets to prisoners and other items to help improve the lives of those in need.
In additional to being of service to people in need, BOV is also a vehicle for donors and volunteers to personally participate in outreach programs, engage with cultures different from their own and experience the joy of giving and receiving as they learn and build new relationships. BOV aims to respond to the words of Mother Teresa when she said: "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

LDA Vancouver's Highlights of 2010
In 2010, LDA Vancouver benefited from over 1050 volunteer hours and provided 109 bursaries to students. The Orton Gillingham Tutoring Program celebrated 20 years of teaching reading to thousands of children. LDA Vancouver also piloted two new summer camps and partnered with three additional schools to provide free tutoring. With support from various donors and partners, LDA Vancouver was able to offer services like psycho-educational assessments, conference attendance, Disneyland trips, and interactive workshops to further support children with learning disabilities.

GYSD 2011 Final Report Overview
Global Youth Service Day in 2011 engaged over 550,000 youth volunteers in 3,502 projects across 102 countries. Over $1 million in grants were distributed to support these projects. Some notable projects included students in Minnesota organizing a service event at the Mall of America and over 5,000 university students in South America building housing for families affected by natural disasters. Planning has already begun for Global Youth Service Day in 2012.

15-year-old Leann Farha, a student at Casady School, organized the 3rd Annual Walk the World Oklahoma City event to raise awareness about global hunger. The event was a 5K walk that drew participants from the community and raised $11,000 for the World Food Programme and other organizations addressing child hunger worldwide. Farha began organizing the local Walk the World event as a freshman and has expanded it each year. She and other Casady students participated in various fundraisers in the months leading up to the event to contribute to the funds raised. Farha's leadership and passion for addressing hunger has engaged her peers and made the Oklahoma City Walk the World event an annual community tradition.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

- 2. In 2011, the YWCA Girls’ Sports program reached over 390 girls between the ages of 3 and 14. Classes were offered in soccer, basketball, and volleyball. The YWCA also introduced Super Sports, a program that introduces girls to all different sports including field hockey and lacrosse.
- 5. 121 children attended YWCA preschool programs in 2011 In 2011 the YWCA established a scholarship from the Andrew "Drew" Roth Foundation. "Drew" was a member of the 2008 Playroom Plus Class and died suddenly Nov. 26, 2010. The Scholarship was presented to a preschool student.
- 6. Summer Youth Field trips every Friday Strong Museum Darien Lake Fantasy Island Maid of the Mist Fallsview Indoor Water Park
- 7. The Lockport and Niagara Falls Summer Day Camps offered summer fun for over 180 school age children in 2011. The YWCA School Age Childcare programs saw an increase in attendance to over 100 children in 2011.
- 9. The Advantage Grant ended on June 9, 2011 for all Round 4 programs around NY State. This changed the fee structure of the YWCA Advantage Program while keeping the same curriculum. Emmet Belknap has become a fee based site for 5th and 6th grade. Newfane Middle continues to be a free program thanks to a grant from the Grigg Lewis Foundation.
- 11. 278 women and children have come to live at Carolyn’s House since 2005, forty-nine in 2011. Six women graduated from Carolyn’s House programs in 2011. Five residents have participated in the matched savings program in 2011.

- 13. Monthly luncheon served over 600 patrons in 2011. The Catering Crew served 142 events in 2011. City Hall Café opened April, 2011 The Catering Crew hired 15 graduates of the culinary program to work at the Airport Café. The Airport Café has grown exponentially as the number of passengers, flights and airlines have increased.
- 17. The YWCA provided shelter to 35 women and 40 children in 2011. 3 families moved to Transitional Housing and 1 to Carolyn’s House upon leaving. 320 non residential domestic violence victims have been counseled in 2011 . The YWCA initiated the county’s first Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), comprised of law enforcement, sexual assault nurse examiners, advocates and prosecutors. 75 Rape Crisis Hotline Calls were responded to in 2011.

- 2011.continued their tradition of kicking off the summer with a combined day of fun that included a carnival, games and prizes and swimming at the Lockport Community Pool. Old friends renewed their ties and new friends found a summer buddy. Both camps came together each week for field trips which took them into Canada and across Western New York. Lockport and Niagara Falls camps this year enjoyed the talents of staff from Girl Scouts of Western New York and Shea’s Performing Arts Center who presented them with an interactive workshop. The combined registration for both camps was over 180 children.
- The 2011 Niagara Awards Even was the largest event yet. 36 women were nominated in 8 leadership categories. Over 370 attendees enjoyed a night filled with fellowship and congratulations.
- Sylvia Baptiste was promoted to Finance Director after serving over twenty years in the accounting office. The YWCA has over 80 employees and 7 sites 9 sites in 2011.
