In 2006, Latino youth aged 11-18 who had witnessed domestic violence were invited to a conference to discuss their strengths. The youth interviewed other children and adolescents at Caminar Latino about experiencing violence at home. The study found that Latino youth facing domestic violence have personal strengths, family support, and community resources to draw from. Talking about and using humor about their situations and having safe places away from home were especially important.
