Viktor Frankl presented a model at a speech defining fulfillment and success as separate dimensions. He drew a horizontal line representing failure and success, and a vertical line crossing it for depression and fulfillment. The ideal is quadrant I, where one finds both fulfillment and success, while quadrant IV should be avoided. However, many people find themselves in quadrant II, achieving success but feeling depressed. Frankl concluded that in the future, companies will only survive by offering customers more than just products, and employees opportunities for fulfillment beyond just jobs. True fulfillment comes from within, not from chasing external measures of success.
