Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional Hindu medicine native to the Indian subcontinent. Contemporary practices derived from Ayurvedic traditions are a type of alternative medicine. Research is looking into whether some herbs or plant treatments used in Ayurvedic medicine could help to prevent or treat cancer.

GastroIntestinal Disorders
Introduction
Normally, gastric acids are produced and stimulated so that the body can break down consumed foods and digest them easily. The major component of gastric juice is hydrochloric acid, which is produced by oxyntic cells. The secretion of these acids takes place in three phases namely: the cephalic phase, the gastric phase and the intestinal phase. The cephalic phase starts when someone has an urge to eat or smells food. The brain signals the parietal cells to secrete gastric acids and the ECL to secrete histamine. The gastric phase is when someone has eaten and the amino acids present in the food stimulates the production of these acids. The last phase is stimulated by the distention in the small intestines and the amino acids too and the secretion takes place when chime enters the small intestines (Testani et al., 1996).
Gastroesophageal Reflex Disease (GERD)
There are gastrointestinal orders that exist, such as Gastroesophageal Reflex Disease (GERD), Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD) and Gastritis disorders. Patients suffering from GERD have a complex gastric acid secretion caused by frequent acid reflux. There are cases where HCL frequently flows back to the esophagus and when this happens, the lining of the esophagus becomes irritated. The age factor is visible in this disorder. Older people are more likely to experience this disease than young. However, symptoms are less visible in the elderly. The fact that there is no serious warning symptom of GERD among the elderly makes the disorder more complicated in them. GERD can be diagnosed by a probe test, upper endoscopy or x-ray of the upper digestive system. For the elderly, adequate doses of medication that do not harm the digestive system are effective. Medical therapeautic agents, including PPIs such as pantoprazole and Omeprazole, can also cure GERD.
Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD)
PUD is caused by an imbalance between the secretion of gastric acid and duodenal mucous defence. When the balance between the two is disrupted, there is a consequence of mucousal injury and hence peptic ulcers. PUD among the elderly is associated by complications and when administering medication, special attention should be given to the elderly since they respond negatively to medications and surgery. PUD can be diagnosed by carrying out both physical and diagnostic tests (Okello, et. al, 2016) . Once it has been diagnosed, laboratory tests can then be undertaken such as breath tests, stool and blood tests. There are two main factors that contribute to the high rate of PUD among the elderly are the high rates of H. Pylori and prescription of drugs that increase damage in the gastroduodenal drugs. Elderly patients receive medical treatment of PUD

CRISPR-Cas9, a revolutionary gene-editing tool, holds immense potential to reshape medicine, agriculture, and our understanding of life. But like any powerful tool, it comes with ethical considerations.
Unveiling CRISPR: This naturally occurring bacterial defense system (crRNA & Cas9 protein) fights viruses. Scientists repurposed it for precise gene editing (correction, deletion, insertion) by targeting specific DNA sequences.
The Promise: CRISPR offers exciting possibilities:
Gene Therapy: Correcting genetic diseases like cystic fibrosis.
Agriculture: Engineering crops resistant to pests and harsh environments.
Research: Studying gene function to unlock new knowledge.
The Peril: Ethical concerns demand attention:
Off-target Effects: Unintended DNA edits can have unforeseen consequences.
Eugenics: Misusing CRISPR for designer babies raises social and ethical questions.
Equity: High costs could limit access to this potentially life-saving technology.
The Path Forward: Responsible development is crucial:
International Collaboration: Clear guidelines are needed for research and human trials.
Public Education: Open discussions ensure informed decisions about CRISPR.
Prioritize Safety and Ethics: Safety and ethical principles must be paramount.
CRISPR offers a powerful tool for a better future, but responsible development and addressing ethical concerns are essential. By prioritizing safety, fostering open dialogue, and ensuring equitable access, we can harness CRISPR's power for the benefit of all. (2998 characters)

3. The Search for Treatment
It was January of 2007 and I woke up with a really bad
dysentery. Two doctors, four days, and three varied diagnosis
later I was undergoing Colonoscopy when the doctors
informed me that I had Ulcerative Colitis. I had never heard of
the disease before but I was told that it’s an auto immune
disease but can be controlled through medication. The
friendly expert I was referred to prescribed 20 pills a day for
me including steroids, antacids and supplements to counter
the effect of steroids, and so on. I was clear as I was walking
out that I will not get on this routine – I did not want to spend
the remaining 30-40 years of my life popping 20 pills a day.
http://rajeevroy.com/
4. I started exploring alternate therapy immediately – vising a
Ayurveda ashram, consulted a Homeopath. That was when
my father informed me about this Yoga Therapy center near
Bangalore which was tried and tested by one of his close
friends. I immediately visited their city office and met the
doctor in-charge of the therapy program. The interaction with
Dr. Nagarathna was amazing – within 15 minutes, I was not
only at peace but also clear that I will get the disease under
control through Yoga Therapy soon. The therapy sessions
start every Friday and I immediately signed up to go to the
Ashram the next Friday.
http://rajeevroy.com/
5. My Experience with Yoga Therapy
I arrived on Friday afternoon with the bloody dysentery still
on. Medication included Mesacol – a preventive medication
for Ulcerative Colitis and many bottles of Gatorade every day.
The Yoga Therapy from Saturday which included meditation,
pranayam, select yogasanas, and informative sessions about
the genesis and hence the possible control of chronic
diseases. The specific instructions for me were lots and lots
of relaxation and that’s what I was treated to.
http://rajeevroy.com/
6. The bloody dysentery stopped within three days and I was
feeling perfectly healthy in one week. I had clear
understanding of the source of my disease and how to keep it
under check and could clearly feel the improvement. Another
week of regular practice and I was feeling much better that I
had felt since my college days.
I came back from the Ashram after two weeks and then
carried on with regular practice everyday. Waking up at 4:30
am on most days, I did 90 minutes of meditation, pranayam,
and yogasanas. I continued with Mesacol as the only
medication based on the doctor’s advice.
http://rajeevroy.com/
7. The Impact of Yoga Therapy
There may be many centers that offer similar therapies and
results but I want to share the one that I sent to. The place is
called Arogyadama and it is part of one of the three
recognised Yoga universities in India called S-VYASA. The
institute has been around for 30 years as has been the
therapy center.
They monitor the health and key parameters of all
participants daily and have published numerous papers in
reputed journals establishing the efficacy of Yoga Therapy in
various chronic diseases as well as for general well being.
While all the details are available on the website
(http://svyasa.edu.in/vyasa-hub/arogyadhama/), I am
reproducing the ailments treated for ready reference.
http://rajeevroy.com/
8. The Trusted Yoga Therapy Center
Over the next 5 years, I continued with my Yoga practices
while gradually reducing the dosage of the medicine till I did
not need it any more in 2013. I did not have any relapse of
Ulcerative Colitis since the first attack. I do not have any
symptoms of the disease or take any medication for the last 4
years. As I shared with many doctors, all of them disagreed till
finally a friendly gastroenterologist did agree that this is the
fourth case he has come across where someone claims to be
cured of Ulcerative Colitis.
Over the last 10 years, I went to the Therapy Center quite a
few times, initially as a “patient” of Ulcerative Colitis but
more recently just for well being. It is one of the best
vacation for me and and my family now.
