YOGA
What is
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual
practice that originated in ancient India. It
encompasses a wide range of techniques
and practices aimed at achieving a state of
harmony and balance within the
individual. The word "yoga" is derived from
the Sanskrit root "yuj," which means to
yoke or unite, indicating the integration of
mind, body, and spirit.

ASANAS
Asanas" refer to the physical postures
or poses practiced in yoga. These
poses are a fundamental aspect of
yoga and are designed to promote
physical strength, flexibility, balance,
and mental focus. Asanas are often
performed in combination with
pranayama (breath control) and
meditation to create a holistic
practice. Here are some commonly
practiced yoga asanas:
PRANAYAMA
Pranayama is the practice of breath control in
yoga. The word "pranayama" is derived from two
Sanskrit words: "prana," meaning life force or vital
energy, and "ayama," meaning extension or
control. Therefore, pranayama involves the
extension and control of the breath to enhance
the flow of prana within the body. This practice is
an integral part of traditional yoga and is
considered a powerful tool for promoting physical,
mental, and spiritual well-being.
MEDITATION
Meditation is a practice that
involves training the mind to
achieve a state of focused
attention, heightened
awareness, and a deep sense
of tranquility. It has been a
part of various spiritual and
contemplative traditions for
centuries and is widely
practiced for its numerous
mental, emotional, and
physical benefits.
Dhyana is a Sanskrit term that translates
to "meditation" or "contemplation." In
the yogic and Hindu traditions, dhyana is
one of the eight limbs of yoga, as
outlined by the sage Patanjali in the
Yoga Sutras. The eight limbs are a
systematic path for spiritual growth and
self-realization.
