2. Humble beginnings
When I first looked at the assigment I immediately thought
about creating a nicely structured PowerPoint, lining up all
the observations I made, and end it all up with a compelling
conclusion.
Exactly, what the assignment told me to do! Following the
assignment structure in a crash course on creativity boils
down to one word: BORING!
3. It's all about discovering
I figured that this course was all about going out into the
world with open eyes and making discoveries.
So, intuitively I started my discovery here:
4. Enjoying the unexpected
While I was walking around the store, making the
observations and answering the questions on the
guidelines, I found this:
5. So what's so special about this?
Well, that's a valid questions. You are looking at a LEGO
CUUSOO Minecraft kit.
And I heard that only 10,000 were produced in the first run.
Apparently no one knows when the restock.
So, I went to a couple of sites and compared the prices to
the official retail price...
8. Long story short
Yes, sensing an opportunity I bought a couple (including
one for myself of course :))
9. The stats
Observation time: ~20 = 1 episode of HIMYM
minutes
Profit in best case: 350€* I bought 10 and figured I
can sell them for 70€ tops.
Profit in worst case: 0€ Assuming I'm selling at the
retail price.
Even if my conclusion turns out to be completely BS I still
had a lot of fun doing this assignment, started the process to
viewing known things from a new perspective and ended up
with a pretty cool Minecraft kit.
10. What did I learn?
The opportunities we need for are
everywhere around us. They're in
every break of the life, every
minute, every second. On this team
we fight for that opportunity. On
this team we tear ourselves and
everyone else around us to pieces
for that opportunity. We claw with
our fingernails for that inch.
Because we know when add up all
those opportunities, that's gonna
make the f---ing difference between
winning and losing!
