Yaxuna is a Mayan archaeological site in Mesoamerica known for its long causeway and house of leaders, with evidence of termination rituals. Guatemala is the country containing another site that uncovered a stone panel of a king and altar. Excavations at both sites face dangers, as archaeologists in Guatemala require armed guards and received death threats, while some areas in Yaxuna were steep terrain.
