CHRISTMAS IN CATALONIA
We decorate our houses and
Xmas Trees with laces, Xmas
figures and lights.
Some Christian families also set up a Nativity Scene.
Our traditional Christmas desserts are “polvorons”, “turrons” and “neules”.
In Catalonia, a magic log brings presents to children.
It is called “Tió de Nadal”.
In order to get their presents, the children have to sing
a song and to hit the magic log while singing.
In New Year’s eve, we eat 12 grapes together with our family, friends or in
famous squares like “La Puerta del Sol” in this picture.
The night of the 5th of January children go to see the Three Magic Kings procession.
And they go to bed early because the Magic Kings only bring them presents if
they are sleeping. It is a very special nights for children.
