Today we are going to write and
informal letter to a friend. Your friend
has been caught smoking and you are
going to write him/her a letter advising
them to stop. The slides will show you
how to do the format.

                   Go to main menu
The style for the letters is that
Everything should be aligned to the
left. In the next slide, the details that
should be the top left corner are
shown.

                            (leave a line here)

Dear Malathy, (dear followed by your friend’s name)

                                           Go to main menu
After the Dear and your friend’s name,
go to the next line and begin your
letter. You’re writing to a friend or
relative so you can be chatty and
friendly in your opening paragraph.

                    Go to main menu
Use the first paragraph to tell your
friend a bit about your life and ask
them how theirs is going as well.

                   Go to main menu
However, don’t forget the main
purpose of the letter, which is to
advise your friend to stop smoking.
This is what you need to do in the
second paragraph.

                    Go to main menu
You can start off the second paragraph
by saying you heard about the smoking
incident through a mutual friend. (A
mutual friend is someone who you both
know)

                   Go to main menu
However, getting them to stop may not
be all that easy. You will need to be
able to convince them! Explore this website

about a support group to help them to
quit and tell them that you hope to
hear from them soon.

                   Go to main menu
At the bottom left corner, you will
need to sign off. The following slide
will show you what it should look like
