Inductive ring and tube sensors reliably detect small
metallic parts
Essen, 1 June 2010 - ifm electronic has added ring and tube sensors
to its wide range of inductive sensor technology.
A very high resolution and the fast response time of 0.2 ms characterise
the new sensors. The detect even steel balls with a diameter of only 0.6
mm at a speed of up to 35 m/s.
The static and dynamic versions are easy to adjust. The normally closed
and normally open function can be selected. Pulse stretching and
sensitivity can be adjusted via potentiometer. This saves time and cost
during installation.
For the ring sensors, the tube is guided through the ring. The safe
detection of e.g. screws, rivets, springs etc. is difficult to disturb from the
outside as the sensing field completely lies inside the ring. Tube sensors,
in contrast, have another advantage: they are easy and quick to install by
means of cable ties. One type can be used for different tube diameters.
Typical applications are the handling industry, manufacture of wire, iron,
sheet-metal and metal products and fittings, as well as special purpose
machinery. Also, the new ring and tube sensors are distinguished by their
robustness and the excellent price / performance ratio.
