2. SPARROW IS A SMALL BROWNISH SINGING BIRD FEEDING ON SEEDS AND INSECTS. THE DECLINE IN SPARROW POPULATION IS A CLEAR INDICATION THAT THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT IN INDIA HAS BEEN ALTERED. THERE ARE NO SAFE AREAS IN THE ROOFS AND BALCONIES TO BUILD THEIR NESTS. THE BIRD POPULATION IN SOUTH ANDHRA PRADESH ALONE VANISHED 80% FOLLOWED BY COASTAL AREAS.
3. INDIAN PRIME MINISTER DR. MANMOHAN SINGH HAD ALSO STRESSED THE NEED TO PRESERVE BIO DIVERSITY. WOMEN NO LONGER GOT OUT FOR CLEANING GRAINS. WE GET ALL PACKED AND CLEANED GRAINS THE CAUSE FOR THE DECLINE OF SPARROW POPULATION IS FROM ONE TO MANY. A FEW OF THEM ARE LISTED BELOW :-

Terraced buildings preferredover tiled houses, which have no holesin nesting sites for house sparrows.3.House sparrows are grain and insect eatersNon availability of these food items affectedsparrows.
5. 4.Pollution is another cause for depletion ofthese birds. Unleaded fuel used in Automobiles gives insecticidal effect.5. Electro magnetic radiation is proved to affect growth of sparrow population.6. There are several species of sparrowfamily namely American Tree Sparrow,Fox Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, Whitecrowned sparrow, Savannah sparrow.The Blood of sparrows is used in UnaniMedicinal preparations.
6. Conclusion:Growing native plants in the house gardensand avoid using pesticides will ensure arich variety insects for sparrows to feed.Providing nest boxes at various placeshelp sparrows to choose better nestinglocation.
