Our Focus Plant a Tree Today (PATT) Foundation works to raise awareness of global environmental issues, campaign for better environmental practices and take action against deforestation and climate change by planting trees. Our work aims to: o campaign for better environmental practices o take action against climate change o implement tree planting projects as well as provide funding for partner planting projects o set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education o fund community development projects in rural communities centered on tree planting and reforestation PATT was founded in 2005 and is a UK Registered Charity and Thai Foundation. PATT has operational offices in Bangkok, Thailand with representatives in Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. 2009 winner of the United Nations SEED Award for Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Environmental and Social Development

- 14. Impact investing: Problem! • Disconnect (Conception to action) • No funding to develop projects • No business acumen at village level • NGO’s have to fill the gap – with no money until the project is funded!

In 1970, The 0.7% ODA/GNI target was first agreed and has been repeatedly re-endorsed at the highest level at international aid and development conferences: •in 2005, the 15 countries that were members of the European Union by 2004 agreed to reach the target by 2015

- 17. • Governments to increase the levels of ODA to solve the problems - actually deliver on their commitments • The UN to be more accountable for its spending • Change the corporate mind-set: find a way CSR to drive profit to really make a difference? (More funding from the business sector) • Impact Investing - A way forward but solve the funding GAP from concept to inception • Find scalable projects - Lets not reinvent the wheel • Don't forget Time is your most valuable asset - Your Individual Social Responsibility - if we don't give our time then we wont be able to make a difference to the future CREATING THE FUTURE!

- Talk about poverty but cost of living in countries such as US & UK means that people are not always able to give
- Children - Education on matters. Its our children that will be dealing with these issues on the ground in 20 years. We need to ensure they understand the issues and are adequately equipped to incorporate solutions as they emerge onto the world stage. Growing up with a mindset to change collectively will I hope have a huge effect on the issues going forward.
- Forestry – sustainable revenues (Communities understand benefits) Social, economic and environmental benefits. From our stand point we would leek to see more focus on Forestry. It takes a minute to chop a tree down that took a hundred years to grow. We simply have to put the forests back!
- Impact investing – everyone talking – waiting for it to happen – same as Climate change – carbon offsetting REDD with hope! Capitalists want financial returns but now we are seeing a paradigm shift to natural & social capital being included. So we have to adopt a business approach to solving these problems to create sustainable returns. Don't just keep throwing money at problems.
