World Book Day is celebrated internationally on April 23rd each year. This date was chosen to honor three famous writers, Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, who all died on this date in 1616. UNESCO promotes World Book Day to encourage reading and respect for intellectual property through copyright of published works.
