“ to work or not to work.. “
That is the question…
By Fisun Gökdoğan
WORKING WOMEN
a.Possitive effects
on hersef :
Working women are
• happier
• healthier
• more self confident
 They always feel rushed & trapped
 Working women who try to be supermom may
be more depressed
 When they have a baby, returning to work
they feel very guilty
** rushed: feeling that you must do something quickly
** trapped: If someone or something is trapped, they are
unable to move or escape from a place or situation
b. Negative effects on herself
1. Many of
these women
feel rushed
because there
aren’t enough
hours in the
day
Feeling rushed :
FORTY YEARS OF FEMINISM
BUT WOMEN STILL DO MOST OF THE
HOUSEWORK
Analysis by the Institute for Public Policy
Research shows that :
 8 of 10 women do more household chores
while just 1 in 10 married man does
equal amount of cleaning and washing as his
wife.
* chores : housework
UNFORTUNATELY WOMEN STILL
LIKE THIS...
a. Possitive effects :
 Parental education is also a positive aspect of
a child’s success
 Working women have to send their kids to
nursery school, and this can be positive
effects on the kids’ social and cognitive
development.
 kids of working mothers can be more
confident
 While a working mother has a wide range of
social and professional contact, the
nonworking mother is isolated.
EFFECTS ON KIDS
what about negative effects
on kids ?
b. Negative effects :
 While the nonworking mother is staying at
home better her child acedemically and
emotionally, the amount of actual quality time
is not always as sufficent as that of a
working mother.
 Working mother feels guilty for having to
leave the child with someone else when they
are sick.
EFFECTS ON KIDS
AN INTERESSING RESEARCH
according to the Michigan Study :
 Daughters of employed mothers have been
found to have higher academic
achievement, greater career success, more
nontraditional career choices.
 Sons of employed mothers showed lower
school performance and lower I.Q. scores
during the grade school years
WHAT ABOUT MEN?
 Don’t forget that you are not superwoman.
 You should know your own mind: work or just
bring up your child.
 If you decide to work, you have to strike the
right balance between job and familly.
 Find “ Right husband “ who will help you and
make your life easier..
