To make a shape that tesselates: 1. Draw a square and label the sections 1-4. 2. Move sections 1 and 4 to back onto sections 2 and 3. 3. Move sections 2 and 1 underneath sections 3 and 4. Glue the shape onto cardboard to create a stamp. The stamp should tesselate when used to draw multiple connecting shapes.

will tesselate
You need:
- a square of paper and some
cardboard
- a pencil, glue stick and scissors.

2. Draw two lines and label the sections
1, 2, 3 and 4.

3. Take the two left hand pieces (1 and 4)
and move them so they back onto 2
and 3. (put straight edges together.

4. Move the two top pieces (2 and 1) and
put them underneath 3 and 4. (straight
edges together.

5. • Now glue the four sections onto the
cardboard in this shape.
• This is your stamp that will tesselate.
• To check that it tesselates use the stamp to
draw four shapes that all meet at a point.
Then keep going!

6. Ta da! They should fit together,
tesselating perfectly!
