Much of the current thinking in civic technology involves the idea of “getting technologists to come to government.” But what about the other way around? Even when the government has successfully engaged with technologists, how can we as a government IT agency “get out there” to show that we are available, can be great partners, and that the technology community should engage with us? This talk will discuss the strategy for outreach and engagement work that MassIT has done with the tech community in Boston over the last year. I’ll go over our intentions, what’s worked and what’s fallen flat, and describe some best practices for how to be a great evangelist of government.
