WISEWOMAN – Helping Today’s Women Get Healthy in the Real World
The WISEWOMAN Program helps Michigan women with little or no insurance gain access to screening and lifestyle interventions that can reduce their risk for many chronic diseases
Michigan WISEWOMAN is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
In order to be enrolled in WISEWOMAN, a participant must first be in the Michigan  B reast and  C ervical  C ancer  C ontrol  P rogram (BCCCP)
WISEWOMAN Is Implemented By Twelve Local Organizations In 34 Counties Around Michigan

WISEWOMAN strives to reduce the burden of chronic diseases by talking to women about their risk factors and working with them to reduce their modifiable risk factors
Fiscal Year 2009 Risk Factors
Women tend to be the gatekeepers for their families – If she can make healthy choices, she can help the rest of the family make healthy choices to reduce their modifiable risk factors as well
Fiscal Year 2009 Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Risk Factors
WISEWOMAN also works to delay or prevent the onset of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, whenever possible

Second – Encourage Healthy Lifestyle Changes Nutrition Physical Activity Smoking Cessation
