William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright of all time. He lived during the reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I in England, introducing over 3,000 new words to the English language through his plays and poems. While many facts about Shakespeare's life remain unknown, it is known that he was born and died on April 23rd and lived until age 52, writing 37 plays and coining hundreds of phrases still used today that make him the 2nd most quoted writer in the English language.
