Hello my name is Will jarvis, thank you for this opportunity to tell you about my eagle project. This all began when dave dugas and I went to the red oak town council meeting as part of our citizenship in the community badge. The town council mentioned that they would have to lay aside plans for two picnic shelters at the new red oak park because they could not afford the 30,000 dollars each in labor to construct them. This seemed like a great eagle project if we could pull it off. So I got thinking, about what it would require, it would take years worth of construction experience. So I began thinking, I knew just the person to help me out, Big dave dugas. Though I planned this project and coordinated the construction it would've been impossible to do so without his guidance.
Charlie Lewis lent us the truck in the background.
Our construction schedule was delayed because the town’s contractors were unable to meet their deadlines. We were not able to start until August the 16 th . That’s the day we shot the elevation and began to prepare for prehaps the most demanding endavor of my small inscignifigant life
Even my 9 year old brother got into the act.
The final stage had to be dug by hand
All that dirt was shoveled by had onto the trailer and then was shoveled off after we got to the dump site.
Jerry barnes generously lent his time and boomtruck to set the beams
I had several meetings with sue yurkis of the nashville recreation department during the planning stages. Here she is coming out to check on our progress.
For several hours I had to stay in the cab of the boomtruck with my foot on the accelerator held at exactly 14000 rpm
Our troop 628 dads really worked hard to set the beams
Here’s jerry and his son trey running the boom truck
The chicken was great.
BNT roofing generously donated their time to come roof the shelter. I could not come help because they could only come when we were in school
