This document provides an introduction to wikis, including what they are, basic principles, concepts, types of wikis, why and how they are used, benefits, and how to implement them. A wiki allows any user to easily contribute or modify content on a website. It discusses how wikis enable collaboration, sharing, and the development of collective knowledge. Benefits include increased speed, flexibility, visibility, quality and the creation of value through knowledge transfer within organizations.
Wikis are collaborative websites that allow users to easily add, edit, and change content, sometimes without needing to register. They represent consensus rather than authority, with the knowledge of many considered more valuable than any one expert. Studies have found Wikipedia to be as accurate as the Encyclopedia Britannica for science articles. Popular wiki platforms include Wikispaces for tools and private pages, and PBWiki for limited free tools without logins. Wikis are effective for collaborative authoring in research and scholarship.
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia with over 4.4 million articles. It has conventions like being editable by the public, with information on topics presented in written articles, titles, subheadings, and pictures. Technical conventions include hyperlinks, a sidebar with site preferences and contents, and talk pages for discussing improvements. Over 116 million people visited Wikipedia in September 2013, making it the 9th most popular website.
Wikis are a valuable resource to hit the web. They are accessible web pages which can be viewed and changed by anybody with a web browser and permission to access to the page. This makes them perfect for collaborating. A notable ‘wiki’ is the collaborative information website: Wikipedia, which allows users to add or modify information to create a free, useful encyclopaedia.
A wiki is a website that allows users to collaboratively create and edit web page content. Wikis can be used to share information on topics that may be useful to others. Some popular wiki providers include Wikipedia, Wikipages, Wikitravel, Wikinews, and Wikia.
A wiki is software that allows users to collaboratively create, edit, link, and organize content on a website. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and power community sites. Wikipedia, one of the largest wikis, is an online encyclopedia created and edited by thousands of users. Wikis offer benefits like easy collaboration, searchability, and low costs. They can help promote collaboration, establish institutional memory, enhance knowledge sharing, and cut down on email exchanges between coworkers. When implementing a wiki, considerations include accessibility, transparency, responsibility, and sensitivity of content.
Wikis allow for easy sharing and editing of information online. Wikipedia is the most well-known wiki, containing over 1 million entries across 10 languages that anyone can edit and view. While wikis can be prone to inaccuracies, their open collaborative model has been shown to produce information comparable to traditional encyclopedias. Companies also use internal wikis for knowledge sharing and collaboration between employees.

The document discusses emerging technologies and their uses for academic libraries, specifically focusing on wikis. It defines emerging technologies, provides examples like videos, collaboration tools, and mobile access. Wikis are highlighted as a useful emerging technology for libraries, allowing collaborative website development. Different uses for wikis in libraries are outlined, such as providing basic information, staff training, collaborative document editing, an intranet, and subject guides. Factors to consider with wikis include whether to host them on a local server or external service. The document concludes by proposing using WetPaint to create a wiki for nursing students and faculty at Towson as an example.
This document discusses 5 unexpected uses of wikis: 1) using wikis to store and organize structured data, 2) creating PDF books and catalogs by combining PDF pages in a wiki, 3) managing menus using a wiki interface that can then be displayed as a menu, 4) allowing developers to collaboratively write and edit code using a wiki interface, and 5) creating presentations by combining wiki pages that can then be played live or printed.

This document provides an abstract for a case study paper on the 8D House in Malaysia. The purpose is to study how vernacular Malay architecture was implemented in the 8D House to reduce solar heat gain and improve thermal comfort. Due to increasing development in the area, the architect designed the 8D House using strategies from traditional Malay architecture suited for Malaysia's climate, such as an overhanging roof, louvers, orientation, landscaping and local materials. Literature reviews validated that these passive design techniques reduced internal heat and improved thermal comfort as intended.

Today, wikis have proliferated across the internet through wiki software, and are used by both corporations and individuals to create customized knowledge bases. Their defining feature is the ease of creating and updating pages directly from a simple web interface.
This document provides an overview of wikis. It defines wikis as websites that allow users to collaboratively create and edit interconnected web pages. The first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, was created in 1994 by Ward Cunningham as a subsection of another site that allowed direct browser editing. In 2001, Jimmy Wales launched Wikipedia, which grew rapidly due to being entirely user-driven. Wikis are characterized by users' ability to easily edit pages using simple markup languages. While open editing enables rapid growth, it can also lead to errors or vandalism that wikis address through history tracking and community self-correction.
One of the most popular sites within the public domain is Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org), an encyclopedia written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world and anyone with internet access can make changes to Wikipedia articles. Since its creation in 2001, Wikipedia attracts 684 million visitors yearly. There are more than 75,000 active contributors working on more than 10,000,000 articles in more than 260 languages. That is a collaboration project to envy.
Wikipedia is a free, online encyclopedia written collaboratively by volunteers. It contains over 13 million articles in over 260 languages. Articles can be edited by anyone with internet access, though certain pages require approval. While this open model allows rapid growth and updating, it also leaves the content vulnerable to vandalism and the insertion of biased or inaccurate information. However, Wikipedia has developed robust systems for monitoring changes and correcting errors. It aims to serve as a comprehensive summary of all human knowledge.
This document discusses wikis and their use for online collaboration. Some key points:
- A wiki is a type of website that allows users to easily add, edit, and change content. Wikis are designed to be open and easy to correct mistakes.
- Wikis help develop writing and social skills through group work and consensus building. They also give everyone equal opportunity to contribute to knowledge.
- Wikis can be used as formats for subject guides, for teacher and student annotation and collaboration, and as meeting places for school communities. They are well-suited for class projects, webquests, and professional learning communities.

A wiki is a collection of web pages that can be edited by users to allow for fast communication and sharing of information. Wikis are like discussion boards where people can become involved and communicate. Ward Cunningham invented the first wiki to allow for quick collaboration on the web. Wikipedia is the most well-known wiki - an online encyclopedia that allows collaborative editing by volunteers worldwide. Wikis allow for editable information to be shared quickly but also carry risks if unreliable information is added without oversight.
A wiki is a website that allows users to collaboratively add, edit, and delete content. Wikis are powered by wiki software that allows users to write content using simplified markup or a rich text editor without needing HTML knowledge. Wiki content has no single owner and structure emerges according to user needs. The largest wiki is Wikipedia, but there are many other types of wikis on various topics. Wikis allow open collaboration but also require managing issues like vandalism, edit wars, and malware.
Wiki is a type of website that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users. It was originally conceived by Ward Cunningham as "the simplest online database that could possibly work" and allows users to freely create and edit web page content using any web browser. Unlike traditional websites, wikis are editable by anyone and allow for hyperlinks within pages to create connections between related ideas.
A wiki is a website that allows users to collaboratively edit its content directly from their web browser. Sarah introduced her project team to using a wiki to work together on their term project. They appreciate being able to easily share and modify documents in real-time from any location with an internet connection. The team has received positive feedback after publishing their in-progress wiki to get input from experts in their field.
This document provides guidance for publishing articles in the English Wikipedia. It explains that Wikipedia is a collaboratively edited online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It recommends writing articles in an encyclopedic style using a neutral tone with facts and verifiable sources. The document also outlines Wikipedia's notability guidelines for article topics and emphasizes editing following Wikipedia's policies and etiquette.
The document discusses various social software tools for use in higher education, including wikis, blogs, and podcasting. Wikis allow collaborative editing of content using a web browser. Blogs are regularly updated websites organized in reverse chronological order. Podcasting involves delivering audio files that can be listened to on demand on portable media players. The document provides examples of how these tools can be used for collaboration and sharing information among students and educators.
This document discusses using Twitter and Wikis for educational purposes. It provides information on how to set up and use Twitter accounts, including introducing participants, polling, and discussions. Wikis allow for collaborative editing of content. They are useful for distance learners to work together. The document describes free, fee-based, and self-hosted wiki options and provides examples of how wikis can be used for student collaboration, such as building a shared resource archive or exploring issues through debate. Participants are assigned a project to research educational uses of Twitter and Wikis and create related activities.
Wikis are collaborative websites that allow all users to easily add and edit content. They provide version control so edits can be tracked and previous versions accessed. Wikis lower barriers to authoring and updating documentation, making collaboration fast and easy. They are well-suited for technical documentation in higher education IT where systems are complex, documentation is challenging, and institutional knowledge must be shared. MediaWiki is an open-source wiki platform commonly used for technical documentation projects.
Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia created collaboratively by volunteers. It has grown to be the largest reference website in the world, containing over 58 million articles in over 300 languages. Wikipedia articles can be edited by anyone with an internet connection as long as they follow policies aimed at ensuring factual accuracy and neutrality. The purpose of Wikipedia is to share knowledge freely and act as a widely accessible educational resource written from a neutral point of view.
Wikipedia is a free, public, online encyclopedia created in 2001 that allows users to edit and contribute content. It uses links to pool reference information across over 16 million articles in 272 languages. While information can be added by any user, all content must be cited and is subject to editing by other users to ensure legitimacy and remove false information.
Wikis allow users to freely create and edit web page content from any browser. Ward Cunningham developed the first wiki in 1995 for the Portland Pattern Repository. Wikis support features like editing, linking, navigating pages, and creating new pages easily. There are different types of wikis based on the scripting language used, with PHP wikis commonly used on servers and P2P wikis connecting external pages. Wikis enable open collaboration, easy access and editing, and transparency in changes.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.
