The scientific method involves 6 key steps: 1) Make an observation, 2) Ask a question about the observation, 3) Research to gather more information, 4) Make an educated guess (hypothesis) about what will happen, 5) Perform an experiment to test the hypothesis, and 6) Draw a conclusion based on the results of the experiment. The example given describes a child, Ormie, who uses the scientific method to try to figure out how to reach some cookies that were placed high up.
