This document discusses why God chooses to use people to accomplish His will. It provides several reasons:
1) God created humans in His image, with abilities and talents, so they can glorify Him and be a part of fulfilling His purposes.
2) While God can accomplish His will without humans, He loves humanity and wants people to share in the honor and rewards of serving Him.
3) God knows each person's needs and gifts, and wants them to use their talents to serve Him and be strengthened by Christ for any task.
To understand and know who we are in Christ we need to know understand how God sees us. The problem is that most people have a false idea about what God is like that has been created by past experiences especially what they were taught or experienced as a child. To know the truth of who we are in Christ requires us to know the truth about what God is really like as revealed in the Scriptures and supremely in Jesus.

As we had mentioned before that what God wants us to do is what we can do, but we live in a world controlled by the devil, so we will be brainwashed and like to do things that we can’t do. Then, we will be trapped in a desperate mood, because these things are generally undefined, or humans can’t do it at all, but our energy is spent on whether we achieve it, and we don’t calm down and think about what God has said. And exactly what God wants us to do, this is the focus of this chapter
Who do we trust the most, God or man? God's plan for us is simple and it includes, peace, joy, happiness, freedom, prosperity and life. Man's plan has none of those and if you do find any of those in this world, it will only be for a short period of time.

Sometimes I often hear someone to say, I have a relationship with God, but what kind of relationship? Is it like Chinese saying, If there is relationship, then, there is no concern. However, if there is no relationship, then, it is a big concerns. However what kind of relationship, due to polite reasons, usually don't carefully ask in the world. The language of the world is often like this, it will not be clear. But it is also because of this, the conflict between each other can be reduced, but this is a false appearance. One day, you will know that it is a misunderstanding between each other.

Today we are going to talk about a very basic question, what is a church, and how can we see as being in a church? When we drive on the street, we often see church buildings one after another in the city. But is this the church mentioned in the Bible? What else should be in the church? We often see young people no longer go to church after they leave their parents. Parents often worry about their spiritual condition and whether they believe in Jesus Christ can be passed on. We will discuss this issue from the perspective of the Bible.

When something bad happens in the world, Christians will say that this is a thing done by the devil, but is it really the case? Is it the problem caused by the person's own behavior?
Why becomes this way, it’s because everyone says that God is love, then what is love? According to the definition of the worldly love, everything should be nice, and it will never be thought to have anything to do with disasters.
So if God cause this disaster, then, it’s hard to justify it. So we say that all these bad things are the actions of the devil and have nothing to do with Jesus Christ or God. In this way, if we teach others to believe in God, then there is no problem at all. Because God is like a Santa Claus in the eyes of the world. You can ask him for any gift, and he will give it to you with no hesitation.

We have previous talked about abiding in GOD’s word. We started with some biblical verses, now we have to speed up the abiding. Here is how to do it. This approach is like a person wearing sunglasses all the time and suddenly his glasses are removed, he can see everything clearly. This change lies in the difference in vision, and everything he sees has changed completely. This should have a great change.

2. Scripture
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant
does not know his master’s business. Instead, I
have called you friends, for everything that I
learned from my Father I have made known to
you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and
appointed you so that you might go and bear
fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever
you ask in my name the Father will give you.”—
John 15:15, 16 (NIV)
”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me.”—Philippians 4:13 (New King James)
3. Questions
• If God can accomplish His will with or without
us, why would God use people to accomplish
His will?
• If God can accomplish His will with or without
you, why has God chosen to work through you
to accomplish His will?
4. Maslow’s Pyramid of Human Needs
Self-Actualization—Need to be Creative, Spontaneous, Moral,
Accepted, Experience Purpose, Meaning and Inner Potential.
Self-Esteem—Need to Experience Confidence, Achievement,
Respect of Others, and the Need to be a Unique Individual
Love and Belonging—Need to Experience Intimacy and a Sense
of Connection With Others (Friends, Family, Spouses)
Safety and Security—Need to Feel Safe, be Healthy, and
Experience Social Stability, Have a Family, Be Employed
Physiological Needs—Food, Water, Shelter, Clothing and Sleep
5. God created us in His Image.
• “So God created mankind in his own image, in
the image of God he created them; male and
female he created them.”—Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
• Absent our sinful nature, our virtues are all a
reflection of God’s character.
• Because we have been created in God’s image
we have been endowed by God with an
intellectual curiosity, creativity, imagination, the
ability to love, and a special sense of purpose.
6. God created us to glorify Him.
• “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I
created for my glory, whom I formed and
made.”—Isaiah 43:7 (ESV)
• “If anyone speaks, they should do so as one
who speaks the very words of God. If anyone
serves, they should do so with the strength
God provides, so that in all things God may be
praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the
glory and the power for ever and ever.
Amen”—I Peter 4:11 (NIV)
7. God has given us a unique honor.
• God created each of us with a special purpose.
• God loved us so much that He chose to make us a
part of accomplishing His will.
• “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having
been predestined according to the purpose of him
who works all things according to the counsel of
his will”—Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)
8. God will meet our needs.
• God knows exactly what we need—physical,
emotional, intellectual, psychological, and
spiritual—and will provide for all of our needs.
• “And my God will meet all your needs
according to the riches of His glory in Christ
Jesus”—Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
9. The Parable of the Talents
• Each person is given certain abilities, talents
and gifts.
• Each person has certain limitations.
• God gives according to His will and purpose,
and that not all are given to equally.
• God expects us to put our gifts and talents to
work for Him.
• God will give more to those who use their gifts
and will take away from those who do not.
10. Philippians 4:13
”I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me.”—(New King James)
• God has endowed us with abilities, talents and
gifts.
• We have the choice to use these abilities, gifts
and talent for Him or not.
• God has given us the honor to share in the
sense of accomplishment of His will.
• We must realize that we can accomplish
anything if Christ gives us the strength.
11. There are Great Rewards for Serving God.
• “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
since you know that you will receive an
inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the
Lord Christ you are serving.”—Colossians 3:23 and
24 (NIV)
• Serving God requires great effort.
• There is no greater reward in life than the
satisfaction you get from using your gifts and
talents in service to God.
• The rewards of serving God are immediate and
eternal.
12. The Bible Teaches
• God created us in His image.
• God created us to glorify Him.
• God created each of us with a special purpose
• God created us and knows our needs better
than we know.
• God will provide for all of our needs: physical,
emotional, intellectual, psychological, and
spiritual.
• God loved us so much that He chose to make
us a part of accomplishing His will.
13. What Can You Do
to Allow God To Use You?
• Decide that You Want to Be a Part of What God
Has In Store for You.
• Unify with Christ.
• Rely on the Holy Spirit.
• Submit Your Will to His.
• Be Obedient In Everything.
• Live an Example Before Others.
• Tell Others About Christ.
• Minister to the Needs of Others.
• Do everything for the glory of God.
14. “The efforts which the Christian makes are not
the doomed attempts of the unsaved to merit
glory. They are the appointed avenue along
which we express outwardly the new life in
Christ which we already possess, and the means
by which we come to enjoy that new life more
completely.”—J. Alec Motyer
The Message of Philippians (The Bible Speaks Today series)
15. What Are You Going to Do?
• If you are Christian, are you allowing God to
accomplish His will in and through your life? If
not, what is keeping you from experiencing
the joy of what can be accomplished through
Christ?
• If you are not a Christian, what is keeping you
from giving your life to Christ this morning?
16. What Are You Going to Do About It?
• There is nothing more important than your
relationship with Jesus Christ.
• There is nothing more important than settling
where you will spend eternity.
• Put your trust in Jesus Christ this morning.
• Satan would love nothing more than for you
to delay your decision.
• You will never have this opportunity again.
Editor's Notes
That brings us back to our original question. If God doesn’t need you to accomplish His will and purpose, why does He desire to use you for that purpose? Since He does not need us to accomplish His will and purpose, then the fact that He uses us is a choice He makes. He has chosen to use you and me. In fact the His word tells us that it was a conscious act on the part of God to use you and me in accomplishing His will. In other word, God chooses to use us. In fact, one could argue that it may be easier for God to use other means to accomplish His will given our sinful and rebellious nature and our limitations. For this let look at a demonstration. You probably remember times when you were growing up, that your dad or mom or another adult allowed you to work with them in making or repairing something. It may have been helping your mom mixed the ingredients and bake a cake, or helping your dad build something or make repairs. As an adult, you may have allowed your child to help you with a project. No doubt, in many cases, it would have been easier for the adult to just do it themselves. So why did your dad or mom or you invite the child to help out. Was it because you needed them? No, it was because you loved them, and you wanted them to share in the joy of the sense of accomplishment they would receive from working on a project and seeing it completed. God does not chose us for His benefit. Out of His grace and great love for us, He choses us for our benefit. He choses us to so we can share in the rewards of working for and in His kingdom and seeing the results of our work. To understand this more, we can use what we have learned from psychologists. Maslow’s Pyramid…
God has created us in His image. That means that we share in the attributes of God. God is creative. We are creative. We have all been given not only an ability to imagine, but a drive to use our imagination. God is all-knowing. We crave knowledge. We have an intellectual creativity. God is loving. We long to love and be loved. He has honored us in such a way to share in His image, His attributes, His characteristics, His love, His creativity, His imagination, His purpose. This is one thing that separates us from all the other species in the animal kingdom. Only we have been created in the very image of God. It is a tremendous honor that God has given us. Not because we in any way deserve it, but because of God’s grace and His love for us.
God has created us for a unique purpose. That purpose is to glorify Him. Our lives should be lived in fulfillment of this purpose 24/7. It is God who created us and not we ourselves. We need to constantly be aware of our purpose to glorify God in everything we do. Our every thought and action should be for the purpose of bringing glory to God. A question that should always be behind everything we say and do should be “Will this bring glory to God?” Without God this is impossible. The only way we can live a life that glorifies God is to rely on the power that God only gives. And that comes from the realization that you cannot do this on your own. It is when others see God’s work in our life that our lives truly glorify God. That is only possible when we get ourselves out of the way and do everything for God’s glory, for God’s praise, for God’s favor—not man’s.
Make no mistake about this, each person is created by God for a special purpose. You were created for a special purpose. The overriding purpose is to bring glory to God. As a part of that purpose, God has chosen you for the purpose of accomplishing His will. Indeed God through Jesus Christ has chosen to make us partners in accomplishing His will. In verse 15, Jesus said that He no longer calls us slaves, but considers us as friends. Now this does not change the fact that we are God’s servants, and it in no way means that we are in any way equal to Christ. But what it does mean, is that through our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we have a relationship with God, and God has chosen to make His will known to us so that we can be a part of God’s work to accomplish His will. What a tremendous honor, that God would consider us friends and make us partners in His work although we are so unworthy and so inadequate in so many ways. But because of His love for us, He chose us. He loved you so much, He chose you.
God has instilled in us basic needs. Among them are the need for a sense of personal accomplishment, and God fulfills this need in our lives by allowing us to use our God-given talents, abilities, and gifts in service to Him. Indeed, He uses the need for need we have to fulfill a higher purpose to give us the desire to serve Him. He uses the need for personal achievement to give us the desire to do the work necessary to accomplish His will in our lives.
Parable of the Talents—Matthew 1-30. God gives every Christian certain talents and gifts and abilities for the purpose of accomplishing His will in and through us. God expects you to use the gifts and talents that God has given you. Using our gifts and talents requires work. There is no greater reward than the rewards for using our talents and gifts for God. God gives more gifts and abilities to do greater things when we use the abilities God has given us. God takes away gifts and talents we do not use. It is a terrible thing to waste the gifts and talents that God has given us. Do you know what your gifts and talents are? Are you using them for God?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Notice “I can do all things through Christ” In this passage, Paul is referring to his ability—through the strength of Jesus Christ—to get through any situation, but the principle applies elsewhere as well. God has endowed us with abilities, talents, and gifts. We can chose to use those abilities, gifts and talents for Him or not. God has given us the honor to share in the sense of accomplishment of His will through our work for God, but only when we realize that anything we accomplish is only through the power of Jesus Christ living within us.
If you are Christian this morning, are you allowing God to accomplish His will and purpose in your life? If you allowed God to examine your life, what would He say about how you are living your life to glorify Him and Him only. What would He say about how you are using your gifts and talents in the accomplishment of His purpose? Are you allowing God to bless you with the joy that only comes from putting your gifts and talents to work for His kingdom? If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, there is nothing more important than establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ. There is nothing more important than settling this morning where you will spend eternity. Give you life to Christ this morning and start experiencing the joy of a daily relationship with your God, Your Creator, Your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Start experiencing the joy of knowing that no matter what happens, you have the assurance of knowing you will spend eternity with Christ in heaven. Put your trust in Jesus Christ this morning.Satan would love nothing more than for you to delay your decision. For if you are already convinced that you need Jesus Christ, the only hope that Satan has is for you to delay that decision until it is too late. You want peace of mind this morning, take care of your relationship with Christ this morning. Make Christ your Savior and Lord this morning . Remember: YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY AGAIN. As brother Travis comes to lead us in the invitation, and Brother Stuart joins me down front, you come as God leads you.
