Moses Brown Trouble with Sameness
We started off the session with an exercise - imagine a police officer, a doctor, a nurse, a criminal, a fire fighter, a family, a teacher, a basketball player, a boy, a girl, and more. When we compared similarities and differences, to our surprise, almost all of us had drawn the same family: a mother, father, and children who look like them. Almost all of us had imagined male police officers, fire fighters, and criminals. Almost all of us had imagined female teachers, nurses, and nannies. Several of us imagined only able-bodied people (no wheelchairs, glasses, etc.). And we did it all without having been told to imagine this way. After comparing, we pondered what would an alien species, whose only exposure to humans was in the form of these imaginings, assume about the human race. We then extended the metaphor into the fact that we were, at one point, naive to all these messages in our very beginnings - we WERE aliens to this way of thinking at one point. We then analyzed where we got these messages. Clearly, everyone knew that men can be nurses, children do not always look like their parents, crimes can be committed by people in business clothes, etc. And yet, here we were, so clear on what society has taught us who these people are. We learned about the cycle of oppression, where stereotypes can become prejudice, then discrimination, then oppression, then internalized oppression/dominance. Finally, we discussed ways we can interrupt the cycle of oppression so that we, the people around us, and future generations can get beyond societal messages of what we should believe about one another.

Kobi Schmalenberg explores reasons why kids bully in a 6-part document. Kids may bully due to lack of attention, trying to feel popular, or imitating bullies at home. Bullying can also stem from exposure to violence in media or cultures that value power over others. Being constantly put down by bullies can lead kids to feel they have no self-worth or reason to live, sometimes resulting in suicide. A Belief Rule Based (BRB) Decision Support System to Assess Clinical Asthma S...
Asthma is a common chronic disease that affects millions of people in the world. The most common signs and symptoms of asthma are cough, breathlessness, wheeze, chest tightness and respiratory rate. These signs and symptoms can’t be measured accurately since they consist of various types of uncertainties such as vagueness, imprecision, randomness, ignorance, incompleteness. Consequently, traditional disease suspicion, which is carried out by the physician, is unable to deliver accurate results. Hence, this paper presents the design, development and application of a decision support system to assess asthma suspicion under uncertainty. Belief Rule-Base Inference Methodology Using the Evidential Reasoning Approach (RIMER) was adopted to develop this expert system that is named as Belief Rule Based Expert System (BRBES). The system has the capability to handle various types of uncertainties both in knowledge representation and inference procedures. The knowledgebase of this system was constructed by taking account of real patient data and expert’s opinion. The practical case studies were used to validate this system. It was observed that the system generated results are more effective and reliable in terms of accuracy than the results generated by a manual system.

Asthma is a common chronic disease that affects millions of people in the world. The most common signs and symptoms of asthma are cough, breathlessness, wheeze, chest tightness and respiratory rate. These signs and symptoms can’t be measured accurately since they consist of various types of uncertainties such as vagueness, imprecision, randomness, ignorance, incompleteness. Consequently, traditional disease suspicion, which is carried out by the physician, is unable to deliver accurate results. Hence, this paper presents the design, development and application of a decision support system to assess asthma suspicion under uncertainty. Belief Rule-Base Inference Methodology Using the Evidential Reasoning Approach (RIMER) was adopted to develop this expert system that is named as Belief Rule Based Expert System (BRBES). The system has the capability to handle various types of uncertainties both in knowledge representation and inference procedures. The knowledgebase of this system was constructed by taking account of real patient data and expert’s opinion. The practical case studies were used to validate this system. It was observed that the system generated results are more effective and reliable in terms of accuracy than the results generated by a manual system.

This document describes PhenDisco, a rule-based natural language processing (NLP) system for standardizing phenotype variables in the database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP). The system uses a pipeline that tags variables with topics and subjects, normalizes descriptions, assigns semantic roles, categorizes variables, and maps them to standardized ontologies. It achieved an accuracy of 73% for topic identification and 71% for categorization. PhenDisco provides improved search and access to dbGaP compared to the existing dbGaP Entrez system, demonstrating higher recall and precision. Future work will integrate machine learning and identify similar variables to further enhance phenotype discovery in dbGaP.Alabot

environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is

All individual are expected to be good or great in certain field but suddenly not all individual has opportunity. An opportunity to show his or her abilities and capabilities. Life is not a fairytale; there is something that will block you to your journey to success. One of the hindrances that individual will possibly encounter is discrimination..

Discrimination is part of our journey it may possible to happen in all of us but there is visible difference between the degrees of discrimination experienced by the people who belong to LGBT community. As proud member of LGBT community and one who has experience how to be discriminated. I can say that it became part of my environment since I learned how to walk and how to think.
- 4. • A child who is just starting in his journey is already being discriminated. A young boy playing ten-twenty at the street is surrounded by people laughing because they find it contrasting. Then I started to be confused, I ask myself, who I am? Why people laughing at me because I play a sport necessary for girl? Why my inner self is contrasting in the physicality of my genitalia? Those are some question that bothering me.
- 5. • While gaining age I discovered that I am truly different from the others but I am not alone. I taught that discrimination will stop there but I’m wrong. Now I’m 17 years old still being discriminated. Entering in a public comport room is one of the challenges in my life. My first step will be the last one because people are looking at me. I don’t know what is in their mind but one thing that I am aware of and that is they feel that I am not suited at that specific area because it is necessary for male.
- 6. • There still some question in my mind. Why do I need to prove myself just to earn respect? Why I am living proving my worth in this world. • I am not dreaming that all people will accept me. I just need understanding and respect. Respect me not only because of my gender preference but because I am human one of God creation.
- 7. • I believed that discrimination can possibly solve by understanding because trough understanding respect can be possible and when there is respect harmony can be achieve. Harmony will lead to equality.
- 8. • Love is one of the most powerful things in this earth because love transude any boundaries even nation, religions, beliefs and gender.
