Michoel goes on a photo shoot near a local pond one hour before sunset. Through manipulating the lighting and aperture on his camera, Michoel is able to envision and capture a scene that is different than what is directly in front of him. He decreases the aperture to darken the scene and adds a touch of off-camera flash to light up a bench. With the end result in mind of spreading Chassidic teachings globally, Michoel is able to capture the photo he envisioned. He wishes everyone a good Shabbos from himself and the Oneinfocus team until their next photo shoot.

Health literacy practices in a 3D social virtual world a social model of heal...Dr Evelyn McElhinney PhD
This document reports on a qualitative study that explored how people seek out and use health information in 3D virtual worlds. The study found that people choose virtual worlds for health information due to the social and interactive features. Participants engaged in various health literacy practices in virtual worlds, such as seeking information through different media formats, discussing information with others, and role-playing simulated health scenarios. Through these social interactions and virtual simulations, participants were better able to understand health information and apply it to their real-world health behaviors. The study suggests current models of health literacy should consider the social and cultural aspects of how people access and learn from health information.
This document summarizes two films that depict journeys of self-awareness: Wild Strawberries and Ship of Theseus. Wild Strawberries follows an elderly doctor who takes a car trip that triggers memories causing him to reevaluate his life. Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Editor's Notes
This is a program for everyone at every age. We are pleased to be able to provide it especially for people in the second half of life, because that is when the brain does slow down and can deteriorate.
Our logo reflects the 2 targets of WBH: to improve current brain functioning and to strengthen the long-term physical vitality of the brain itself through evidence-based immersive activities in SL.
Our goals: To teach 5 major components of brain health and well-being that we highlight on Inspiration Island through our programs and self-guided hunts and challenges. These are everyday activities based on well-being research across several domains.
The brain can be trained to improve memory, focus, concentration, attention, processing speed. It can also be nourished to increase synaptic connections and even grow new neurons at any age. That’s apparently why some people who are found, after death, to have Alzheimer’s tangles don’t exhibit signs of the disease while alive. Brain Games may help somewhat, but a more powerful and enjoyable way to take care of your brain is to engage in activities that offer a variety of benefits to the whole person. SL is a natural place to do this.
That’s why we offer free courses in “brain training” in Second Life using Inspiration Island’s (see overview of ground level here) builds and programs created by members of our ever-growing Collective of individuals.
Instructions on How to Sign Up and Enter SL can be found here: www.virtualwholebrainhealth.org. Just type Inspiration Island into the location box at login to come to our landing point. Click on the blue disk to be transported to our basic orientation area. It is self-guided and self-paced, a generous gift from Grizzla that we have adapted.
Our support system for visitors is available on these boards, which you can find a various points around the island. We have volunteers who will help anyone who is stuck. If no volunteer’s picture is on the board, Lissena (the Director of WBH) will get your message in her email and contact one of them. Send her a notecard if you would like to become a volunteer Buddy.
The 2nd phase of orientation takes place in the Multiple Intelligences Experience (MIE) area. Howard Gardner’s 8 kinds of intelligence are demonstrated in this immersive build. Newcomers continue to add skills here. All students begin to learn how their own personal combinations of intelligence are resources they can draw on to turn wellness theory into everyday practice that enhances their lives. The Library here represents one kind of intelligence – the Literary/Linguistic.
The purpose of challenges on Inspiration Island is to engage people in activities that exercise mind, body, and spirit. This is one of the many challenges in the MIE. Each of the 8 stations holds a notecard detailing its challenges. Some of them offer Linden rewards.
The Strengths Challenge here is based on Positive Psychology research and practice. Newcomers learn a new skill – hunting for clues. All students learn how to identify and understand their strengths, then how combining them with their mix of intelligences can help them make positive changes in their lives more easily.
This challenge, devised by Dancers Yao, leads seekers of inner growth to uncover the things that help them build resilience in adversity – personally and societally. It adds another tool to the highly individualized “tool kit” of inner resources they are gathering, which can be used inside and outside of SL to increase well-being. Don’t forget to get your solar light in the grotto (your light of inspiration) – and put on a diving suit to find the pearl of great price in the abyss. Every experience here can expand your ability to flourish.
This beautiful build, created by Thuja Hynes – our Associate Director – contains Inspiration Island in miniature. Its 5 levels each reflect 1 of the 5 components of well-being: self care (exercise/diet/sleep), positive social connection, creative expression, purpose and meaning, and cognitive stimulation. Many Collective members have contributed to its contents. Here students in the course learn about the framework we use for everything Inspiration Island does to promote brain health.
This is an example of a fantastic scriptless machine, also created by Thuja Hynes, filled with tourists. We give ground and aerial tours – just ask. You can see our Towers of Invention, Brodmann’s Brain (you can walk inside it!) and the amazing 3D Maze of AlmostThereInventor (he creates a new maze every Sunday). To complete the course and create their own individualized plans for well-being, we ask the students to investigate Inspiration Island’s more than 30 locations and programs. The goal is to discover how they can best fulfill all 5 components of well-being in daily life by matching specific kinds of activities to their personal strengths and interests.
At the conclusion of the course we send students out to the greater world of Second Life through this Hub created and maintained by Ewan and Starlight. In it they can find information about safe SL communities offering programs that also promote brain health according to the principles they have learned. This is extremely valuable for newcomers.
We think of ourselves as an immersive special library focused on brain wellness. We like to partner with others in virtual worlds who also view places like SL as a force for good. We hope to introduce more new people to the benefits of an online life that can complement their whole life. We hope to introduce more people in SL to brain training. We would like to enlarge the concept of a Collective beyond our own island. If you are interested in co-sponsoring events, for example, contact us. If you would like to learn more about our New Frontiers courses, contact Lissena in SL or write to her at INSPIRATIONISLANDSL@GMAIL.COM.
