As VP product I've managed Product Managers and UX/UI designers. Many times conflicts arise and with it blaming and finger pointing. Who owns the product? Product Managers? UX designers? The CEO? Everyone? Depends?
21. I say… it’s not the answers.
Stop asking the question.
22. It’s all about your
EGO.
Your professional
EGO.
But still your
EGO.
23. Instead: Be inclusive
planning executing launching Analyzing
Include designers
when
01.
Work together, not next to each other.
02.
Regular offsites for PM’s and designers.
03.
Lunch & learn’s.
04.
24. Instead: PM’s communicate all
business aspects
Share & explain company’s
main KPIs.
01.
The reasoning behind the
vision and mission.
02.
Where does product and
design fit in.
03.
Designers should use data
themselves.
04.
Schedule meetings to review product & design issues
through business perspectives.
Ignore the “we have too many meetings” argument.
25. To sum it up:
Stop asking who
should own the
product
Be more inclusive;
Designers should be more engaged and
data-driven.
Communicate all product aspects:
► Business goals / KPI’s / strategy
► Analytical data
► User intent
► Market research
Feedback touch points must happen in multiple stages of
planning/production
How can YOU help improve collaboration, where you work, starting today?
