Thomas was not present when the other disciples saw the resurrected Jesus. When they told Thomas they had seen Jesus, he said he would not believe unless he saw the nail marks in Jesus' hands and placed his hand in Jesus' side. A week later, while the disciples were together behind closed doors, Jesus appeared and showed Thomas his wounds, telling him to stop doubting and believe. Thomas' response was "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said blessed are those who believe without seeing.

2. But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the
twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the
other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the
nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of
the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

3. A week later his disciples were again in the house,
and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were
shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
“Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put
your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your
hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”

4. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you
have seen me? Blessed are those who have not
seen and yet have come to believe.” John 20: 19 –
29

the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of

bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed.

12. 3 Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at
this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned
up.” 4 When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to
see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses,
Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then he said,
“Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet,
for the place on which you are standing is holy
ground.”

13. 6 He said further, “I am the God of your father, the
God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to
look at God.

14. 13 But Moses said to God, “If I come to the Israelites
and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors has
sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his
name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to
Moses, “I am who I am.” Exodus 3: 1-6; 13, 14
