SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND
SOCIETY
WEEK 7 & 8
When
Technolog
y and
Human
Cross
What is
Technology?
• Technology is the result of
accumulated knowledge and the
application of skills, methods, and
processes used in manufacturing and
scientific research. Technology is
embedded in the operation of all
machines, with or without detailed
knowledge of their function, for an
organization’s intended purpose.
Human –
Technology
Relation
• Humans are inherently technological
or tool-using beings. We are
inadequate beings who use
technology to supplement, enhance,
or burden ourselves. Without a doubt,
technology has become an integral
part of the human condition – for
better or worse. It influences us in our
daily lives, as much as we influence
it, but also as moral and ethical
beings.
Is Technology a Need or
Want?
Is Technology a Need or Want?
Today’s technology provides us with
amazing benefits that change the way
we live our lives. Everyone in the
Western world has encountered
innovation as a commodity. We’re
living a more efficient life right now,
thanks to gadgets, smartwatches, and
phones.
Correspondence is constantly evolving as a result of
technological advancements. The days of writing and
sending a letter to deliver it are long gone. From phone
innovation to personal computers and tablets,
communication is quick and easy for many people around
the world. Messages are delivered at similar speeds
regardless of whether the person is nearby or halfway
around the world.
Water, food, education, business, office, electricity, advertising,
information stocks, correspondence, vehicles, travel, food,
shopping, and banks, to name a few. It is everywhere and in
everything that has to do with our daily lives.
The development and promotion of technology has profoundly and
negatively impacted our lives, and new innovations and
developments are the result of our curiosity, innovative strength,
and critical thinking methods.
Reminder:
Even if technology became a necessity, as a person who uses
technology, be responsible enough to not harm yourself and be
responsible in using these.
