Digital entertainment is prolific. Computer games, consoles, mobile
gaming and more have become a billion-dollar global industry. This new
media has provided fun and engagement to many. Additionally, it has
created a new industry that today is continually expanding and
developing new technologies. Virtual reality and augmented reality are
about to shake up the established methods of gaming.
This evolution has happened before with the redesign of how we enjoy
television. Cable companies are continuously rolling out new features
allowing viewers to pause and rewind live TV and record their favorite
programs. Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video
all offer access to cable TV shows and original content for a low monthly
price.
Additionally, mobile applications that allow you to download content
directly to your device. This option allows you to watch even if you go
somewhere without Internet access.
Education
The field of education has changed with the
spread of technology. From the ease of which

The human civilization is built on exploration. As a species we have

some of which are extremely rare. This is driving the creation of
technology.
From software designed to map a region, to the building of space
craft, it seems human ingenuity and technological growth go hand

To meet the expansion of humanity we are now looking to the stars.
We are at the beginning of a new journey that will see humanity
becoming a multi-planet species.
This hope for the future inspires people that no matter our failings
on this planet we may one day, get to start over on a new world.

The environment is a topic that is currently at the forefront
of our minds. The world is experiencing rapid climate
change and we are trying to find ways to limit and reverse
the damage we are causing.
Technology once again can provide us with an answer to
many of the problems. Green technologies such as solar ,
wind, and hydro power production are removing the
polluting power plants of the past.
The world is shifting away from the use of fossil fuels and
transport is becoming increasingly reliant on electricity.
This more sustainable and green approach will provide
future generations with clean air, land and water.
The maintenance of these fundamental human needs will
result in a healthy happy global population.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing of the future will be increasingly technologically
driven. I have already covered the impact of A.I and robotics on
manufacturing so instead I will look at groundbreaking developments
like 3D printing.
The production of goods has since the industrial revolution largely
been a mass manufacturing process dependent on the production
output of large factories. This is changing as home 3D printers become
more commonplace. These devices will allow people to design and
print their own products. These could be objects needed in everyday
life or new products that may go onto to be mass produced.
Technology is also shifting in scale, often the reduction of the size of
an object sees the implementation of nanotechnology. This involves
the manipulation of nanoscopic materials and technology.
This makes it easier for complex machines and technologies to be
incorporated into everyday objects and constructs a network of
devices around the home. This will enable the places we live to
become smarter and even maintain themselves.
Economics
Technology has changed money, paying for
things using a card or increasingly your
smartphone is slowly seeing the reduction of
use in paper and coin currencies .
With applications such as Apple Pay and
Google Wallet, there is very little need to carry
cash when shopping.
The type of money we have available is also
changing crypto or internet-based currencies
have boomed in recent years and the digital
economy is one of the fastest growing arenas
in finance.
technology makes it easier to see where you
stand financially bank or budgeting apps show
instantly if you have money. This being a lot
quicker when compared to traditional billing
and paper statements.
A.I and Robotics
Artificial intelligence (A.I) and robotics may have the largest
potential impact on our civilization out of all modern technologies.
Some believe that smart technologies have inexhaustible power
and vast benefits, others fear a possible “rise of the machines” and
the destruction of humanity.
We can see the beginnings of change today with robots taking over
many once human held occupations. The robots are however,
creating new job opportunities for engineers and programmers.
Maybe we need to adjust human skills to match the new ecosystem
of robotic labor.
Robots and intelligent programs are becoming our everyday
helpers. Robot vacuum cleaners or intelligent coffee machines.
Personal assistants, such as Siri and Alexa, help searching for
information, making orders and controlling devices. In the future
machines will take over even more tasks.
This will result in people having more free time to focus on the
things they want to do rather than have to do.
However, we must be cautious especially in term of A.I if machines
achieve sentience, we could be facing a myriad of new questions!
