The small town of Greenville had become polluted and brown due to waste from the nearby Globby Glue factory. The EPA was called in to investigate and developed a plan to clean up the air, water, and land. They removed waste from the factory and water sources and educated the factory owner on proper waste disposal. After cleaning efforts, the town was once again green and healthy.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
The Metaverse and AI: how can decision-makers harness the Metaverse for their...Jen Stirrup
The Metaverse is popularized in science fiction, and now it is becoming closer to being a part of our daily lives through the use of social media and shopping companies. How can businesses survive in a world where Artificial Intelligence is becoming the present as well as the future of technology, and how does the Metaverse fit into business strategy when futurist ideas are developing into reality at accelerated rates? How do we do this when our data isn't up to scratch? How can we move towards success with our data so we are set up for the Metaverse when it arrives?
How can you help your company evolve, adapt, and succeed using Artificial Intelligence and the Metaverse to stay ahead of the competition? What are the potential issues, complications, and benefits that these technologies could bring to us and our organizations? In this session, Jen Stirrup will explain how to start thinking about these technologies as an organisation.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !
When greenville turned brown
1.
2. A small town called Greenville was a nice place to live,
With forests and ponds, it had lots to give.
3. There were beautiful plants and lots of trees,
And special parks where kids played free.
People loved to see the clouds and blue sky,
And every morning they enjoyed the bright
sunrise.
4. The people were happy in this little town,
Until something happened and Greenville turned
brown.
5. • The crystal blue sky one day turned gray,
The flowers all wilted and the birds flew away.
"My crops will not grow!" cried Farmer John Deer,
"My well water is purple, and it used to be clear!"
"We can't even breathe from the stench in the air!"
6. The townspeople were angry, so they called in the
Mayor.
"Our town is not healthy, we're all getting sick.
You must do something about it and do it right quick!"
7. But the Mayor did not know what was wrong with her town,
She did not know why Greenville turned brown.
What could it be that could cause such pollution?
The Town wanted an answer, and needed a solution.
The source of the problem was right under their nose,
It was the old Drumleaky factory right down the road.
8. On the edge of the town was the factory site,
It operated all day and even at night.
"What do they make there?" the people would wonder,
"There are terrible smells and noises like thunder!"
The sign on the factory said "Globby Glue, Inc."
It was Globby Glue, Inc. that created this stink.
9. From factory smoke stacks came clouds gray and black,
And drums filled with old globby glue were piled high out
back.
Not far away was a creek lined with trees,
The fish that had lived there were now forced to flee.
10. The townspeople gathered to figure this out,
But soon people grew angry and started to shout.
"It's Mr. Drumleaky's factory that's ruining this place,
It's the Globby Glue product and all of its waste."
"But what can we do? Who can save us from harm?"
"The factory must go, it's caused too much alarm!"
11. • The Mayor took the stand, she had something to say.
"I will call EPA and I will call them today."
"But what can they do?" asked Mr. McDoubt,
"They protect the environment, that's what they're about.
Under the Superfund Law that was passed,
They can clean up this place and they can clean it up fast.“
The Mayor picked up the phone and she called EPA, "The
Town of Greenville," she said, "needs your help right away."
12. The EPA experts were soon on the scene,
With shovels and drills they were ready to clean.
The first thing they did was remove all the waste,
They took all the old drums leaking globby glue paste.
They took samples of water and samples of dirt
To see where the environment had been damaged or hurt.
13. ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION
AGENCY
The EPA experts held a town meeting
To gather suggestions and ideas for the cleaning.
The townspeople came and they told EPA
How they'd like to see the mess go away.
The EPA experts made suggestions and listened
And came up with a plan to make the town glisten.
14. The EPA experts soon came up with a plan
To clean up the water, the air, and the land.
"We'll bring in our scrubbers, our dusters, our mops,
We'll clean from the ground up to the tree tops.
We'll make sure your water is again safe to drink,
And we'll make sure that your town is rid of that stink."
15. EPA knew what created this
mess,
It was Drumleaky's factory,
but would he confess?
Mr. Drumleaky thought he was
o.k.
He did not realize that he'd have
to pay.
But when EPA told him that he
was at fault,
The production of globby glue
came to a halt.
Mr. Drumleaky was not aware,
That he had broken the law and
caused quite a scare.
"I did not know throwing waste on
the ground,
Would bring so much harm to this
16. So Mr. Drumleaky had
I’m
shown some remorse,
Sorry!
When EPA asked for help,
he said, "of course."
But the Globby Glue product
was still in demand
Did all of this mean that the
glue was now banned?
Mr. Drumleaky went to ask
EPA,
"Can I still sell my Globby
Glue? I have bills to pay."
"You can still make the glue,
and you don't have to make
less,
You'll just have to make it
without making a mess."
17. So the factory reopened, with new rules in place,
For preventing pollution and cleaning up waste.
They brought in the bulldozers, the trucks and the cranes,
They cleared out the ditches, the sewers, and drains.
They cleaned up all of the waste that they found,
They even cleaned up the water that flowed underground.
18. Then one morning after working all night,
The town woke up to a beautiful sight.
The air was now fresh, and the sky, it was blue!
The birds had come back and the fish had too.
Everyone saw that the town was now clean
The small Town of Greenville,
Was once again green!
