"Hurricane Matthew struck Haiti on October 4, 2016, as a Category 4 hurricane. The combined effects of wind, coastal flooding and rain caused heavy flooding, landslides, and the destruction of a great deal of infrastructure, agricultural crops and natural ecosystems. In all, 546 people were killed, more than 175,500 people sought refuge in shelters, and about 1.4 million people required immediate humanitarian assistance.(n.d.)." Outside of the devastating destruction of the hurricane, the aftermath exacerbated the spread of cholera. Polluted water, sewage over flow, and the population relocated to living in close proximity contributed to the rapid spread of cholera. If left untreated cholera can be deadly. Proper sewage disposal and clean water is the best method to prevent the spread of this disease.
Roughly, 14,000 cases of cholera were reported after hurricane Matthew. The International Medical Corps provided aid in the treatment of cholera. "We also supported Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population’s (MSPP) oral cholera vaccination campaign, through which approximately 729,000 people were vaccinated. We provided operational support for the campaign, including payment and logistics for vaccinators, monitoring and evaluation capacity. In addition, we are operating seven mobile medical units focused on reaching remote and isolated communities, traveling by foot, canoe, and any means necessary to deliver health care and vital relief supplies. In addition to our Emergency Response Team’s Hurricane Matthew activities, our Haiti Country Team continues to implement ongoing health, nutrition, and WASH programs in Nord, Nord-este, Artibonite, and Ouest departments.(IMC, 2017)."
Other organization such as the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Military, the PanAmerican Health Organization, and the Center for Disease Control, sent medical supplies, clear water, and monetary funds to contributed to rebuilding the country. The United European Nations sent similar resources. All of the above organizations responses were appropriate. Sending medical supplies and medical professionals to aid in protecting the population of Haiti was effective in slowing the infection rates. The loss of hospitals were offset by the monetary and military support deployed. Four years later Haiti is still rebuilding from this devastating disaster.

When Dan (now 80) and Jane (now 65) began dating more than 15 years ago, both were emotionally charged to begin their lives anew. Well-educated and financially secure, they had a lot in common. Dan was a protestant minister, and Jane’s deceased husband had been a protestant minister. Both had lost their spouses. Jane’s first husband had suffered a catastrophic cerebral aneurysm 2 years earlier. Dan had conducted the funeral service for Jane’s husband. Dan’s wife had died of terminal cancer a little over a year earlier. Dan’s first wife had been a school counselor; Jane was a school teacher. Both had children in college. They shared a love for travel. Dan was retired but continued part-time employment, and Jane planned to continue teaching to qualify for retirement. Both were in great health and had more than adequate health benefits. Within the year they were married. Summer vacations were spent snorkeling in Hawaii, mountain climbing in national parks, and boating with family. After 7 years, Dan experienced major health problems: a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery, followed by surgery for pancreatic cancer. Jane’s plans to continue working were dropped so she could assist Dan to recover and then continue to travel with him and enjoy their remaining time together. Dan did recover—only to begin to exhibit the early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. One of the early signs appeared the previous Christmas as they were hanging outdoor lights. To Jane’s dismay, she noted that Dan could not follow the sequential directions she gave him. As time passed, other signs appeared, such as some memory loss and confusion, frequent repeating of favorite phrases, sudden outbursts of anger, and decreased social involvement. Assessments resulted in the diagnosis of early Alzheimer’s disease. Dan was prescribed Aricept, and Jane began to prepare herself to face this new stage of their married life. She read literature about Alzheimer’s disease avidly and organized their home for physical and psychological safety. A kitchen blackboard displayed phone numbers and the daily schedule. Car keys were appropriately stowed. It was noted that she began to savor her time with Dan. Just sitting together with him on the sofa brought gentle expressions to her face. They continued to attend church services and functions but stopped their regular swims at their exercise facility when Dan left the dressing room naked one day. Within the year, Jane’s retired sister and brother-in-law relocated to a home a short walk from Jane’s. Their intent was to be on call to assist Jane in caring for Dan. Dan and Jane’s children did not live nearby so could only assist occasionally. As Dan’s symptoms intensified, a neighbor friend, Helen, began to relieve Jane for a few hours each week. At this time, Jane is still the primary dependent-care agent. She prides herself in mastering a dual shower; she showers Dan in his shower chair first, and then, while she showers, he sits on the near.

When hospital D became part of Western Healthcare system that ha.docxeubanksnefen
When hospital D became part of Western Healthcare system that had a central board of directors, your hospital’s board began to struggle with its revised role. The new organizational environment included several outpatient clinics, multispecialty physician practices, multispecialty physician practices, and an insurance entity. Many of the current board members had served the organization since the hospital was built, and board activities always had been performed in a certain way. The administration rigidly controlled board meetings. Board members did not ask questions and routinely approved committee reports. The reports covered topics such as the organization’s financial status and future financial plans, physician credentialing, care quality monitoring, new policies, and plan for a new hospital.
A new board member with a healthcare background was appointed after extensive screening and a personal interview with the executive committee. She was not part of the local business structure, and the administration was concerned that her appointment might not be a wise move. During her first board meeting, two very interesting reports were given. One report detailed some reengineering projects. One of these involved redesigning nursing staffing patterns. This redesign decreased the number of registered nurses (RNs), and replaced them with licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs). The current quality report documented a very high quality of care and positive patient satisfaction surveys. Data excerpted from this report can be seen in the First Quarter column of the table below. Given that this was her first board meeting, the new board member remained silent and did not ask any questions.

Within four months, the new nursing staffing patterns had been launched. Data excerpted from the quality indicators report presented to the board can be seen in the “2nd Quarter” column of the table. After reviewing the data presented by the nurse administrator, the new board member was very concerned and decided to ask if the values in the quality report, which show a negative trend, were for the nursing units with the new staffing patterns. The administrator reported that there was a direct correlation. This answer initiated discussion among other board members who were accustomed to using quality indicators in their businesses. This was the first substantive board-level discussion that the new board memb.

Part III (Facts of Case #3):
You will describe what happened and how did the firm respond to the breach/attack. Also, you will identify and discuss how consumers reacted to the breach/attack. Finally, assess how much responsibility should lie with the firm per this breach/attack.
•
Part IV (Prevention):
Identify and discuss at least three measures firms must take to limit/prevent breaches and attacks from happening. One of your preventive measures must be a technology-based measure, such as robotic processing automation (RPA), blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), or data analytics would have prevented/limited the impact of data breaches.
•
Part V (Role of the Government & Others):
In this section, discuss the role that the Federal Government and large associations (e.g., ISACA, AICAP, IIA) should play regarding preventing/limiting breaches. Be sure to speak about the Government first and then pick an association to discuss.

After viewing air pollution through both lenses, I believe human behavior is the direct result of air pollution, therefore studying the topic through both lenses, seems the only logical choice. Through the Natural Science lens, we can study the root cause and consequences of air pollution. Through the Social Science lens, we can mitigate the negative effects of air pollution by studying the human behavior directly related to the cause, and suggest alternatives.
In this case, the two lenses, in a sense, cross-promote and collaborate with each other. I do not believe my view on the topic has changed after looking through the two lenses, but I definitely have a better understanding of how the two are related and provoke thought.
I am currently working on the Lens Chart, could you tell me if this is a project that is turned in?

When epidemiologists are working to track a disease, the three e.docxeubanksnefen
When epidemiologists are working to track a disease, the three elements that they focus on are the
agent
, the
host
, and the
environment
. Following are explanations of each element.
The
agent
is what causes the disease. The
agent
is often a virus or bacteria but can also be caused by other
agents
. In the scenario, described in the Introduction, the
agent
is the E.coli bacteria.
The
host
refers to those who are contracting the disease. The
host
doesn’t necessarily become sick. Hosts can serve as carriers of the disease who do not show outward signs or symptoms.
Finally, the
environment
refers to the external factors that support or cause the disease to spread. In the E. coli scenario, the lettuce became infected either at the farm or during transport; the lettuce was sold to the distributor and then to Sam’s Sandwich trucks; and people ate the lettuce on these sandwiches.
Each of these steps is important to tracking the disease, and epidemiologists work diligently to trace and report each of the steps to prevent further transmission of the disease.
The following is an example of an epidemiologic triad.
Agent
: Salmonella bacteria
Keep in mind that agents can be biologic (e.g., bacteria or viruses), chemical (e.g., poisons or alcohol), physical (e.g., trauma or radiation), or nutritional (e.g., a lack or excess of essential nutrients).
Host factors
: Individuals who are particularly vulnerable (e.g., the very young or very old and immunocompromised individuals).
Note that, in general, host characteristics can include age, sex, race, religion, customs, occupation, genetic factors, other health factors, and immunologic status.
Environmental factors
: Contaminated kitchen surfaces or utensils, undercooking of contaminated food items, or contaminated chicken.
Environmental factors can include temperature, crowding, noise, pollution, food, and radiation.
Changes in one factor in the epidemiological triad can influence the occurrence of disease by increasing or decreasing a person's risk for disease. Consider how variations in each factor, shown in the example, can influence the manifestation of disease. Refer to pages 435-440 in your Friis and Sellers (2021) textbook for further explanation.
In this Discussion, you will apply the epidemiologic triad to a disease of your choice to gain a better understanding of both the model and the disease.
To prepare

Access and review the Epidemiological Triad Learning Interaction.
Select an infectious disease from the list proved in List of Infectious Diseases document for Week 1 Discussion.
Review the Week 1 “Ebola Virus Disease in the Light of Epidemiological Triad” (Kaur, Sachdeva, Jha, & Sulania, 2017) resource. Consider how the epidemiologic triad/triangle can be applied to your selected disease.
Consider how variations in each factor shown in the example from the textbook can influence the manifestation of the disease..

To what extent do environmental hazards stem from unpredictable nature, and to what extent do they originate from human activity? Should victims blame nature, other people, or themselves for the disaster? Why or why not?

When do the pigs truly become like man?
Introduction:
Animal Farm by George Orwell portrays The Russian Revolution of 1917 with animals revolting against their human masters only to realize they became exactly like the humans they fought against through power and corruption. The pigs on the farm are considered superior as they are more intelligent than the other animals. However, with the power of intelligence they become corrupt and adjust the seven commandments to justify their violation.

It references an article about Aleichia Williams who discusses learning to embrace all aspects of her identity instead of letting others define her. The discussion questions ask how society institutionalizes identity boxes, experiences of being forced into an ill-fitting box, and how to shift to a less rigid view of identity. It also asks about communities the reader is part of, whether they are supportive or oppressive, and how interactions within and outside those communities differ.

When epidemiologists are working to track a disease, the three elements that they focus on are the
agent

host

environment
The
host

Finally, the
environment
refers to the external factors that support or cause the disease to spread. In the E. coli scenario, the lettuce became infected either at the farm or during transport; the lettuce was sold to the distributor and then to Sam’s Sandwich trucks; and people ate the lettuce on these sandwiches.
Each of these steps is important to tracking the disease, and epidemiologists work diligently to trace and report each of the steps to prevent further transmission of the disease.
The following is an example of an epidemiologic triad.
Agent

Keep in mind that agents can be biologic (e.g., bacteria or viruses), chemical (e.g., poisons or alcohol), physical (e.g., trauma or radiation), or nutritional (e.g., a lack or excess of essential nutrients).
Host factors
