1. These four screen grabs are from the film opening, Sherlock Holmes. We got our inspiration
form this and we will attempt to imitate these effects in some ways and input them into our film
opening. Through this we will be able to show the opening credits while showing what is going
on. It will give the audience some insight of what type of film it is and it will show them the
different events taking place.
2. The image above is the type of writing that will be shown in our film opening. Out film is
mainly about a ransom and we want to make it really clear that our genre is based around
crime. We also conformed to the stereotype that, the type of writing is mainly based in crime
films with a mysterious sense to it. So that is the reason why it will be included in our film
opening.
3. Usually in Crime films:
• Props: money, drugs and guns.
• Lighting: Dark lighting, (Night)
• Costume: Street
clothing, something shows that
they are involved with money.
Suits show people that are
really wealthy and street
clothing.
• Dialogue: Slang language.
• Sound: cynical music, high
tempo music or grime/street
music.
• Camera work: High angle
Establishing long shot to show
the setting of the movie e.g. the
streets.
4. Through the film
openings we
watched, we noticed
that the main actors
are introduced either
by a voice over or just
visually. The opening
credits are used to
introduce the actors or
the producers.
