What My Family Means To Me
1. What My Family Means To Me
My family means everything to me. Without my family I would not be the person that I am today. They have always been there for me. My family
has always done the best they can for me and have given me everything that I have ever wanted or needed. My parents and siblings have always made
me smile even when I didn't want to. They have always supported me through every decision that I had ever made. My family has always wanted the
best for me. I might not get along with everyone in my family, but I would not trade them for anyone else. My family means the world to me.
When I was younger, my family consisted of my dad, mom, older sister, and I. We lived in a white two story house in town with a big yard and
room to play. My sister is a year older than me. My parents were married. We took vacations every year to Tennessee. There was nothing special
about my life; I was just a normal six year old girl. Until a frightful thing happened to my family. Everything happens for a reason is what I was
always told, but I never understood why bad things happen to good people. On a sunny day my mom, sister and I was spending the day at our
grandma's while my dad worked. My sister and I played with the fish, golf cart, and dogs. Two o'clock came around and it was time to head home. On
our way home someone hit the back of our car. The car went flying in the air and hit a trailer on a hill. I was the only one conscious at the time and I
was only six, so I didn't know what to do. Nobody

2. Narrative Essay About My Family
I grew up in a very normal family with a mom, dad, one brother and three sisters. Since I'm the baby of the family, my mom stayed home until I
started school. My mom worked in payroll and accounting, and my dad was a computer engineer. My brother is the oldest and did his best to
tease all four younger sisters equally. He was very good at his "job", but I knew he loved me because he opened doors for me and even braided my hair
on occasion. My three older sisters watched out for me, especially my oldest sister; she became my second mom. My sisters fought a bit, but it wasn't
anything horrible or abnormal. We were a pretty happyfamily that did a lot of fun things together and were loved by our wonderful parents. At least
that's what I remembered, but there were times that I wondered if I was loved at all. Was I just the baby of five kids, five years younger than my closest
sibling, and easily forgotten? Around the age of seven, I was in school and we were asked to write our full name. That seemed easy enough!
Although, it was at that moment I realized I had never been taught how to spell my middle name. I was young, but embarrassed that I didn't know
something so simple. Then at nine years old, my parents dropped me off with my siblings at the local pool to enjoy a nice, cool swim in the hot
Southern California sunshine. My siblings excitedly jumped into the pool and began to splash and swim while I stood at the edge feeling very afraid.
My oldest sister came back to the

My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my sporting events and school activities to support
me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm down
and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that
you share with your family you will never forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and we

No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are different, there are families that don't share the
same situation as having four adopted kids that are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people
don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of
thing does not happen, if anything being from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are curious to
learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be
unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The
sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our
parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my
brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being
adopted they have the choice of picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a

4. Reflective Essay About My Family
Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect
siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns.
The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a
person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to unite as a
family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My family has

My dad was a great dad if he was not under the influence, but if he was under the influence he was very abusive, physically and emotionally. My mother
on the other hand, wants nothing but for me to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter.
Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for
myself, to not be afraid of things that may frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think about
myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be forever grateful that I have such a great mom.
Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are
as a person because they are, "their own person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they behave, and
many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the
news and social media, all the hate that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also influenced the clothes

No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays an important role in all my family's lives. In my
family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for
organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times.
My little brother is the pet of the family. He actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I always

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I
also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my
brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I
told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how
violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to
let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking
through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come
over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I
play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there

People are always trying to find themselves and I think that's where a lot of people make mistakes because when they set out to do that they lose the
essence of who they are in the first place. Everything they believe in. A perfect example of that is when a child is raised to believe in something a
certain way, but as he grows older he forms his own opinions about that specific idea and make his own decisions about it. His conclusion differs from
that of their parents.
Personally, I am a perfect example of this because according to my parents, Gay people don't deserve their rights and should not even be able to be
openly gay. I view this concept differently because in my opinion they are people too and just because they are somewhat different than us, doesn't
mean they should be punished. I was raised to be homophobic but as I grew up I met a couple of my gay friends. I saw everything from their
perspectives and understood that all they wanted was to be treated and respected at as a human being. According to Freud the basics of a person's
personality is formed in the first couple of years of his life. During the first years of my life, I was showered with love and attention. Since my mom
couldn't get pregnant for 8 years I was a miracle child, so I pretty much got everything I wanted because of that. When I think about all of that attention
that was given to me. It makes me think that if I

have chosen to embrace being an American and a Ghanaian. Coming from two different backgrounds was a challenge, because of the different values

highly valued in my family.
While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced
parents, my mother raised and supported me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully
dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we didn't know where our next meal was coming from
and had to rely on others. We moved several times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my mother's
need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education
has brought me, given me, and gifted me with empowerment, leadership, confidence; greater understanding of social issues and tools to work
towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I believe that not only is it the key to success, but it's also the key to
happiness. College will help me meet my high education and career expectations that I have for myself which is to ultimately get my Professional
degree, and make a global difference. It will also help to meet my families as well. College will help me

When we think of culture we usually think of a big group of people and we never think that culture is everywhere around us that we don't have to
have a group that consist of many people because it can be form in small groups too. We usually never think that our own family have its own culture.
I used to think that a family just does what it supposed to do and that's exactly what culture is, the way we act, think, feel and even the way we judge is
our own culture. Knowing this I decided that the group that I want to describe is my own family. Which consist of four people, two adults and two
children. We have the head of our house hold which is my husband, he supports our entire family. He works many hours to be able to support us.
Then is me, I attend college full time but am also a mother and I take care of everything at home. Then there 's my older son he is 9 years old and his

Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful opportunity, through which I learned much more than
I expected. When I started this project, I knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my peers. In
effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me.
After I had interviewed them, my family history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group of
Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka. Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan

The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February to October and a wet season from October to
January. Because of the monsoons, the region is humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the
island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of fruits and vegetables.
While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are
devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are Thai Pongal
(beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are
performed for different occasions, such as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to ask the
village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child.

village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai

10. My Family Has Shaped The Way I View Essay
My family is an extremely important aspect of my life; my family has shaped the way I view the world, how I treat other people, and how I see
myself. The genogram I created helps clarify the relationships throughout my family because like many other families, mine is diverse and
complicated. On one side of my family, there are many happy and successful marriages, whereas the other side of my family has more divorces and
marital conflicts. It is also interesting to observe how I am closer with my relatives on my mom's side of the family, and my relatives on my dad's side
of the family are geographically and emotionally distant. Studying family relationships is significant for understanding certain patterns, and
establishing an idea of self–concept. Creating a genogram of my family shows the emotional connections, interactions, and family patterns throughout
three generations.
Relationships
My grandparent's gender roles were very traditional; the wives were responsible for the housework and caring for the children, while the husbands
were responsible for providing the family income. Many of the gender roles between my mother and father became more equal, my parents shared the
housework, taking care of the children, and providing income. My parents, aunts and uncle's marriages are more egalitarian and many of the gender
roles are interchangeable. In the past, especially my grandparent's generation, the women were the primary care takers of the house and children, while

12. Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life
My family is my life
Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the same moment twice. I had lived with my parents
until I was 12 years old, but they could not care for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours a
day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was studying at high school and I was studying at
elementary school. When looking for a good place that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a
small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me.
Our parents explained the difficult situation we were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any more
options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that they found an amazing place and small place where we
can stay just during the week. All children that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because we
did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good
people, get a chance to have two incredible families and having opportunities that changed my life.
I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave. My tutors became like my parents. When I was
staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious
that my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it to change. They explained that this it was not
easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a
shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I can stand up because people learn from their
mistakes. The last but the most important

My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my aunts

14. Characteristics Of My Family Essay
Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant
characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families
share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that
inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or
female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of
the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she
is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer
who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing
herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also

The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more

a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not
always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the

18. Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Cozy Home A home is a place where you have lived with your family for so long that it has, in a sense, become a part of you. It can be a
structure, a neighborhood, a state or a country. In my case, when I think of home, I initially think of a building, my house. My home, however, is
much more than just a house to me. It is also the place where I am always sure to find those I love most, my family. In a generation where there are
so many broken homes, I am fortunate to live with and be raised by two parents, who still love each other. I have two older sisters, Sabreena and
Trinity, and a dog, a poodle named Puffs. I live in a quaint, four bedroom house in a subdivision called Steeplechase in Avondale, Louisiana. My
house is a place of safety and refuge. My neighborhood is full of friendly, familiar faces. I have been smiling, waiving and occasionally talking to
these friends and acquaintances since we moved here when I was just two years old. Growing up in this environment has, I'm sure, contributed to
certain character and personality traits, which have made me who I am today. I am ultimately a trusting individual, who is both friendly and
hospitable. You can learn much about a person simply by walking through their home. For example, if you walk through my house, you would

When I think back to my childhood I remember happy experience and how happy my family. For me that happiness lasted until about when I was

enough to understand. At the time that they were going finalizing the divorce it affected my school work a little. I'm already a reserved person a it
is, but it made me lock myself inside out of the room, not speak for a while. I always wanted to be alone and not be bothered, I basically wanted
people to forget I existed because then I knew they wouldn't speak to me. Eventually, even if it took me a while I started to think of it as a good
thing and I got right back into the process of being myself. Things did start to get harder at home because of obviously my dad not living there. We
had to cut back on some things because my mom had to make ends meet. It was a tough time in our house and sometimes even these days it is still
hard financially, but we get through. As I would like to call it my dark days, I sort of lost myself and I still do sometimes. Fast forward I got older
and I still don't like to talk about the divorce, but I have learned to get over it and move and learn that my mom is happier. I loved school growing
