When it comes to designing, building, and operating mission-critical data centers, simple is better. Data centers are faster and cheaper to build, and more reliable with lower total cost of ownership (TCO), when they start with a dramatically simplified design and build process that incorporates these elements: reference designs, pre-fabricated/modular architecture, partners that bring comprehensive capabilities into play, and coordinated planning around software, operations, and service. Effective power management is quickly becoming a major concern for data centers of all sizes. Specialized power management software is now available to help meet these needs. We tested two of these power management tools, Dell OpenManage Power Center and JouleX Energy Manager for Data Centers.
Both Dell OpenManage Power Center 2.0 and JouleX Energy Manager address some of the most common critical power tasks for your data center servers. JouleX Energy Manager is a product that includes additional features, but you must pay upfront acquisition costs and incur recurring software maintenance costs for potentially less-common features that just a subset of IT departments may implement. In contrast, Dell OpenManage Power Center, when used in conjunction with iDRAC Enterprise, comes at a very compelling price point – $0.00. This translates to a great value and an immediate return on investment.
Delta provides a wide range of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) delivering the critical power to protect its customers' mission critical applications. Delta’s UPS acts as an advanced power manager that protects a computer against problems such as voltage surges and spikes, voltage sags, total power failure and frequency differences.

Knowing an controlling how much power your servers use is a critical step in improving sustainability and managing your organization’s carbon footprint. It could also help your bottom line by potentially
reducing power bills. Simplifying server power monitoring and management tasks can mean saving time and effort for IT admins, too. If you are using Dell PowerEdge servers, OpenManage Enterprise Power Manager 3.0 automates critical tasks that can help you control, or even reduce, your data center’s power consumption faster and more easily than using manual processes with iDRAC. In addition to automating the data collection and power capping tasks we tested, the Power Manager 3.0 extension enabled us to scale out the node count without adding time and effort to the task.
You can maximize the efficiency of your rack, the area it is in, and the company it supports by installing power protection and control systems. Power distribution units for racks or custom server rack are crucial in safeguarding rack-mounted devices.

Dell PowerEdge M820 blades: Balancing performance, density, and high availabi...Principled Technologies
Finding a server that can deliver the right balance of high workload performance, density, and RAS features can help you meet both infrastructure and business goals at the same time.
In our tests, the single-width Dell PowerEdge M820 blade delivered 19.3 percent better Oracle Database 12c performance than the HP ProLiant BL680c G7 in half the space, meaning it could deliver 2.38 times more transactions per U. The value of the denser Dell PowerEdge M820 was clear in our cost analysis of the two systems. Because the Dell PowerEdge M820 takes up less space, you need fewer enclosures, less rack space, and can save on port costs. In our sample comparison of two performance-equivalent solutions, we found that the Dell PowerEdge M820 solution could save up to 42.1 percent compared to an HP ProLiant BL680c G7 solution. That’s money that you can use to buy even more servers for greater performance or to innovate elsewhere. We also found that the Dell PowerEdge M820 took high availability into account by utilizing key RAS features to help increase your workload uptime.
If you’re looking for a dense blade solution to lower costs with the power to handle your important workloads and keep them running, our study shows that the Dell PowerEdge M820 blade addresses all those concerns.

Power Strategies for Data Center Efficiency – Identifying Cost Reduction Opportunities
In a survey conducted by the Uptime Institute, enterprise data center managers responded that 42% of them expected to run out of power capacity within 12-24 months and another 23% claimed that they would run out of power capacity in 24-60 months. Greater attention to energy efficiency and consumption is critical.

Enclosure Strategies for Efficiency – Data Center Efficiency Best-Practice Starts with Your Racks
Historically, Data Center managers didn't invest much thought in their deployment of server racks beyond basic functionality, air flow, and the initial cost of the rack itself. Today, the widespread deployment of high-density configurations is causing major hot spot concerns and capacity issues. These factors, along with the high cost of power, require a sound understanding of how your server rack deployment plan relates to your overall efficiency strategy.

Three Best Practices for Optimizing your IT Infrastructure
In a survey by the Uptime Institute, 42% of enterprise data center managers reported that they would run out of power capacity within 24 months. This statistic isn't surprising when you consider that today's IT hardware requires more power-distribution air conditioning and UPS capacity than in the past.
What steps is your data center taking to mitigate the detrimental disruptions of availability, reliability and uptime caused by a loss of capacity?

Summary: Avocent MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer (AMIE) software presents a fresh alternative to familiar tools such as spreadsheets and VISIO diagrams. With real-time visibility, users can model, plan for, and schedule changes to their data center. Coupled with asset management and capacity planning, AMIE takes the guesswork out of data center projects.
The segmentation of data centers into alternating hot and cold aisles is an established best practice. A number of manufacturers are taking this premise of airflow separation a step further by marketing "containment" solutions. By containing the hot or cold aisle, the air paths have little chance to mix, presenting data center operators with both reliability and efficiency gains.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
