3. INTRODUCTION
ICDS means INTEGRATED CHILD DEVELOPMENT
SERVICE.
Launched on 2nd October 1975,today,ICDS scheme
represents one of the world’s largest and most unique
programmes for early childhood development.
ICDS is the foremost symbol of India's commitment to
her children-India’s response to the challenge of providing
pre-school education.
4. OBJECTIVES
The integrated child development services(ICDS) scheme
was launched with the following objectives:
To improve the nutritional and health status of
children in the age group 0-6 years.
To reduce the incidence of mortality,
morbidity, malnutrition and school dropouts.
To enhance the capability of the mother to look
after the normal health, education and
nutritional needs of the child.
6. WHAT IS ICDS ?
It is a wing in women and child welfare.
It’s main prospect is to reduce mother and child
mortality rate.
In this project government is providing food for pre-
school children i.e...,from 6months to 3years,pregnant
womens & for lactating mothers under THR scheme.
From 1st of July 2017 a new scheme named
“AMRUTHA HASTHAM” was implemented. It takes
initiation in providing food for pregnant & lactating
women's in Anganwadi centres itself.
They provide protein in rich content.
25 eggs in a month per head are given.
Daily a 200ml of milk per head is given.
9. WHAT IS IMMUNAIZATION ?
Actually this scheme was carried out by the
government health centres.
All the vaccines that should be given for just born
babies below one year that includes six vaccines in
sequence intervals of time, comes under this scheme.
It is very difficult for the health ANO’s to find out
the worthy child for that particular vaccine as they
have 8000-10,000 members under them.
So the anganwadi workers under take 1000 members
and easily find out the children who need to be
vaccinated and inform to the health centres and the
vaccination is given by health ANO’s.
12. WHAT ARE HEALTH
CHECKUPS ?
In this scheme government provides four pre-natal
and four post-natal checkups for pregnant women's
and lactating mothers. According to their health
conditions they were medicated.
All that is to do is to register in anganwadi centres
after delivery.
Anganwadi workers take step in knowing time to time
treatment is being done or not.
15. WHAT IS ICPS ?
(INTEGRATED CHILD PROTECTION
SERVICE)
Children who are left alone after giving birth are
taken under women and child welfare supervision and
are medicated for 1week to treat and check the
health condition and later on they were kept in
“SISHU GRUHA”.
The women and child welfare department upload all
the known details of the child in their websites and if
they were needed by their parents then they were
given to them, if not they can also be adopted by
others.
18. WHAT ARE CHILDREN
HOMES,COLLEGE HOMES & STAY
HOMES ?
CHILDREN HOMES:
In this scheme 6years-15years children were
accommodated and provided with food and education
till 10th class.
COLLEGE HOMES :(TANUKU)
These provides education from intermediate to
degree and also provide government placements.
Some times they also take part in wedding the girl.
STAY HOMES:(RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM)
In these homes 18-35 years women's can stay, they
were also provided with education, awareness
programmes.
21. WHAT IS SABHALA SCHEME?
In this scheme 15years-18years girls are provided
with protein rich food.
TAKE HOME RATION is given to 11years-14years
school dropouts. As remaining are provided with meals
under MID-DAY meal scheme.
