Editor's Notes
In order to gain information from people I used a survey method. I learn that due to technological advances I can now publish surveys online for people to complete. The company responsible for hosting my survey online is ‘survey monkey’. The pro’s of using this online software was that it was free to use, and I could create my survey so that I could set what questions do and do not require an awnser. I could also easily analyse my results due to the scales it provides. The cons of this was that I could not automatically create graphs in which to export from the site. Meaning I had to create the graphs manually.
By using software that is use by professionals in the industry (in this case indesign) made creating the textual layer of my magazine easier to construct and create a professional appearnce. This was done by the use of grids, rulers which allowed me to correctly align text, and the use of text maniupaltion features, for example I could wrap text around a set path or image. It also provided small image manipulation features for example feathering which makes the image blend into the page.
Another piece of professional software I used was Photoshop. Photoshop allowed me to edit and manipulate my photographs. For example during the photo-shoot with my band , Alex (the drummer) wore a green t-shirt, by using photoshop I was able to change the colour of his top to black, in order to make it fit the Rock style.
So what have I actually learn by using these technologies. Well from using an online survey I was able to communicate with people and get them to participate in my survey a lot quicker than the ones I handed to them in person. It was also much easier and quicker to analyse my results. In terms of software I learn that by using professional software it was much easier to create a professional looking product. I was able to change my images so they could look believable and was able to format my text as I wanted without having to create lots of different text boxes and allocate them individually. It in turn allowed me to create a professional looking product, which would not have hapopened had I used a word processer such as word or an image software such as Paint.
