Beyond all question, the mystery of
godliness is great: He appeared in a
body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was
seen by angels, was preached among
the nations, was believed on in the
world, was taken up in glory.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8
Now, brothers, I want to remind you of
the gospel I preached to you, which
you received and on which you have
taken your stand. 2
By this gospel you
are saved, if you hold firmly to the
word I preached to you. Otherwise, you
have believed in vain…

died for our sins according to the

he was raised on the third day

he appeared to Peter, and then to

the same time, most of whom are
still living, though some have fallen

then to all the apostles, 8
and last of
all he appeared to me also, as to one
abnormally born.

Israel.
The approximate date – 4 B.C.

Raised in Nazareth of Galilee.
Traversed his native country and
ministry.
Died in Jerusalem, crucified – the
approximate year 29A.D.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON WHO
REALLY LIVES
1.The Person Has Purpose
John 4:34
“My nourishment [he says] comes
from doing the will of God who sent
me and from finishing his work.”

“I have brought you glory on earth by
completing the work you gave me to
do.”

What is the purpose of man?
'To glorify God and enjoy him forever.'

But Jesus lived with motivation.

“Father, glorify me in your presence
with the glory I had with you before
the world began.”

What motivates you?

• Is it our need for security?
• Is it pursuit of money?
• Is it power and prestige?
• Is it recognition?

All these things in the last analysis
are empty, unsatisfying idols.

REALLY LIVES
5.The Person Needs Courage

• A purpose
• A plan
• Resources to carry that plan out
• Motivation to get going
• Courage to stay the course and to
keep with it

'It took courage for the Son of the
carpenter to leave his village and
launch out upon his ministry without
the help of family or friends.
It took courage to accept baptism
from John and thus the risk of being
thought of as a needy sinner.
It took courage to face the rigors of
the temptation alone in the
wilderness… 20

…It took courage to oppose the
traditions of men that had obscured
or even contradicted the word of
God.
It took courage to tell men they were
evil and to expose their sins so
relentlessly that they were left
without a cloak for those sins.
It took courage to refuse the demand
of the people that he consent to be 21

…It took courage to set his face
steadfastly to go to Jerusalem. It
took courage to cleanse the temple.
It took courage to accept the cup from
the Father’s hand. It took courage to
face the venom of his accusers and
the brutality of his crucifiers.
It was one long trail of courage from
beginning to end…

… The courage of conviction and
consecration. Courage. Be of good
courage, Jesus says, I have overcome
the world.'

Jesus lived.
He had an overdose of life.

What’s Jesus doing today?
He’s preparing a place for us.
He is interceding for us.
He is working with us

“When I go
and prepare a place for you,
I will come again
and will take you to myself
that where I am you may be also.”

He is returning for us his people.
He’s returning to judge the nations.
He is returning to rule the earth.
He is returning to complete God’s
purposes on the earth.
