"Universe Awareness Sri Lanka – a volunteer effort" by Thilina Heenatigala
UNAWE Sri Lanka is an astronomy outreach program that began in 2009 as part of International Year of Astronomy. Since then, it has reached over 1500 girl guides and 34 orphanages through its Saturday Astronomy Program and SpaceScoop publications. While volunteers are not always reliable, focused efforts with student ambassadors, interns, and regular meetups have been effective. Moving forward, the program aims to provide astronomy resources for people with disabilities, publish multilingual educational materials, and bring the Universe in a Box exhibit to additional cities.

Educational Transformation in BC

Tragic death
- Louise, a 32-year-old woman from Suja, was found dead in her car. The coroner suggests she may have been poisoned.
- Samples were collected from Louise's body, the coffee shop where she worked, and garbage for analysis at the morgue and police station to identify possible poisons and fingerprints.
- DNA evidence from the samples could help determine if Louise was murdered, but more analysis is still needed to fully understand how she died.
R program
R is a free and widely used program for statistical analysis that allows users to analyze data, create publication quality graphs, and utilize pre-existing packages to analyze different types of data through an importable coding language; while it has a learning curve, R has a large community of support and resources and is able to handle large data sets for most purposes; the document provides information on downloading and using basic functions in R as well as helpful links and tutorials for learning R.
