This weekly report summarizes the progress of a student group working on designing a mosquito killing machine. In the first week, the group determined their design would use stimulation like heat and UV light to attract mosquitoes into a fan system that would not allow them to escape. They discussed using UVA black light which has a long wavelength that does not damage DNA like UVB and UVC. In upcoming weeks, the group plans to learn how to produce CO2 as an attractant and further design the machine's functions, specifications, and patterns before building a prototype.

Weekly Progress
On 1 March 2012, I’m going to kmuttBangkunthein.My group determines to design
mosquito’s killer machine. In this process of mosquito’s killer machine consist of stimulation
(maybe temperature like body human temperature), fan for pull and pick (when it fly into the
machine it can’t fly out from the machine). In stimulation we use UV light because UV light has heat
in it-self and wave length that make color purple with black.
By my group use UVA or black light because it have long wave. It’s different from UVB and
UVC. UVB and UVC, it’s cause of skin cancer because it go to damage DNA.
Another point that we think in meeting such as quantity of mosquitoes per day, machine
work over 8 hours, titanium tray and touch screen.
