The weekly report summarizes progress on using photo interrupter sensors to count mosquitoes. This week, the student researched photo interrupter sensors, which use an infrared emitter and photodetector to detect objects passing through a slot. There are different types that vary in slot width and depth for detecting different objects. The sensors are widely used for object detection and automatic counting. Next week, the student will design a high-performance circuit to count mosquitoes using the photo interrupter sensors for the project.

Weekly Progress
This week I search about photo interrupter sensor. The Photo Interrupters consist of an
infrared emitter and a phototransistor/photo IC, located face-to-face on the optical axes in a
leaded package. They detect object passing through the slot between the emitter and detector.
There are many kinds photo interrupter in slot width and depth in accordance with detecting
object. The photo Interrupters are simple to use and widely used for object detection and
automatic counting. We use Photo Interrupter sensor for test count mosquitos.
