Peek at the Week:
o In Reading, the students were introduced to the
consonant sound of /p/ and our new high
frequency words “me, look”. We focused on
compare and contrast, identify inside and outside
objects, and blending short a, i and o words.
o In Math, we worked on addition sentences using
+ and =.
o Students practiced printing the upper and
lowercase letter Pp. We continued to focus on
spacing and placement, as well as formation. Try
to remind your child that we always start at the
top and go DOWN.
o In our journals, the students are printing one or
two sentences with capital letter and end mark.
We are using periods and question marks.
o This week in Science we discussed different land
surfaces/formations. We saw mountains, valleys,
canyons, fields, deserts and beaches!
Coming Up:
o The students will be introduced to
the consonant sound of /Ll/ and our
new high frequency words “go, in”.
We will focus on the main idea of a
story.
o In math, we will be increasing the
sum for addition sentences.
o In science, we are still working on
earth science.
o Students will practice printing the
upper and lowercase letter Ll.
o We will continue to work in journals
on writing questions and statements.
o Handwriting homework information
is below!
February 2, 2018
Reminders
o Next Friday is an early dismissal day.
o Rest items are being sent home. Please make
sure they are washed and returned.
o Please remind your child about keeping hands
away from face to avoid germs. We wash
hands often during this cold/flu season.
Handwriting Homework
o Students will be bringing home
printing homework on days we
don’t have reading or math.
o They simply need to trace, then
write. Focus on placement on
lines, formation and size.
This week we celebrated the 100the day with fun learning activities in our classroom. We
also enjoyed Groundhog Day and our January PAWS reward celebrating good behavior
decisions.
