While actus rea is pretty much always required for there to have been a crime committed, in cases involving drugs, alcohol, or traffic crimes, mens rea is not necessary. The best example I can think of for this would be manslaughter due to reckless driving. When operating a motor vehicle, you accept the terms of strict liability, which is the main purpose of medications having a waring against operating vehicles and heavy machinery. When a drunk driver accidentally kills someone, they are likely to be found guilty of manslaughter. On the other hand, mens rea is required in cases not involving vehicles and/or mind altering substances. The only example that comes to mind for this is accepting stolen property. If you were to buy a bicycle from someone on craigslist, there is a good chance that you would not suspect the bike to be stolen property, in which case you would not be guilty. I feel like this concept would be most useful for the defense, as it allows you to maintain your innocence in the case of a crime you did not knowingly commit.
Subject matter jurisdiction is more interesting to me, as personal jurisdiction mainly just relates to a person being in a place. Subject matter jurisdiction, on.

The general public has an expectation that those people that cannot conform to the
basic rules and law of society be punished for their lack of regard for the law. The
concept of punishment versus reform is one that has been constantly debated for
hundreds of years. In this unit, we discuss the goals of sentencing as they relate to
punishment.
There are seven goals of punishment that you need to understand in this unit. They
are as follows:
revenge,
retribution,
just deserts,
deterrence,
incapacitation,
rehabilitation or reformation, and
restoration.
There are also five sentencing options available to the offender:
fines and other monetary sanctions,
probation,
intermediate sanctions,
incarceration, and
death penalty.

Ethical behavior is critical when it comes to how society portrays one in terms of
moral principles and ethics in a given situation. In general, ethical conduct is the practice of
doing the right things by observing and adhering to professional standards. In most countries,
the prison populations are on the rising end as most governments try to avoid the pressure in
budgeting for the jails. The United States employs a sentencing structure whereby
individuals are required to cover 85% of their sentences given by the federal court (Bedau
2014). This paper focuses on how ethical behaviors can impact mandatory minimum prison
sentencing standards.
Ethical concerns to be addressed
The laws of mandatory minimum sentencing are the law that allows handing the
minimum prison sentence for crimes such as possession of drugs. These laws are fixed and
made by Congress, as judges cannot tamper with the laws (Oliss 2014). Critics have come
out to say these laws are oppressive and do not apply in the present-day environment.
One of the ethical concerns of the mandatory minimum sentencing laws needing to be
addressed is the unfairness in passing out judgment. In a particular scenario whereby the
judge does not have the capacity to amend the law during the trial, someone who was neither
directly involved in drug conspiracy, nor a significant concern in the case, will end up
suffering the same sentence that is passed onto the main suspect. This makes it difficult for
the individual, who is rarely involved in being heard, in a different scenario as the law tends
to punish them both harshly. The main disparity is this law tends to focus more on drug lords
and the fight against crime as compared to other offenses that are committed (Martin 2017).
The second ethical concern is these laws do not allow room for plea bargains. Since
Congress makes the law, it is hard for the prosecutor who might have wanted to lower the
sentence for a plea. The capacity they are in does not allow them to do so, thus making it
hard for the person who was “less guilty” to serve a fewer number of years in prison as the

law forces the whole lot involved in the same act to serve the same amount of years. Critics
feel this law has less of an impact and deem them as an inappropriate way of ruling as they
lead to an increase in prisons, thus making it hard to share the limited available resources.

Ethical behavior is critical when it comes to how society portrays one in terms of
moral principles and ethics in a given situation. In general, ethical conduct is the practice of
doing the right things by observing and adhering to professional standards. In most countries,
the prison populations are on the rising end as most governments try to avoid the pressure in
budgeting for the jails. The United States employs a sentencing structure whereby
individuals are required to cover 85% of their sentences given by the federal court (Bedau
2014). This paper focuses on how ethical behaviors can impact mandatory minimum prison
sentencing standards.
Ethical concerns to be addressed
The laws of mandatory minimum sentencing are the law that allows handing the
minimum prison sentence for crimes such as possession of drugs. These laws are fixed and
made by Congress, as judges cannot tamper with the laws (Oliss 2014). Critics have come
out to say these laws are oppressive and do not apply in the present-day environment.
One of the ethical concerns of the mandatory minimum sentencing laws needing to be
addressed is the unfairness in passing out judgment. In a particular scenario whereby the
judge does not have the capacity to amend the law during the trial, someone who was neither
directly involved in drug conspiracy, nor a significant concern in the case, will end up
suffering the same sentence that is passed onto the main suspect. This makes it difficult for
the individual, who is rarely involved in being heard, in a different scenario as the law tends
to punish them both harshly. The main disparity is this law tends to focus more on drug lords
and the fight against crime as compared to other offenses that are committed (Martin 2017).
The second ethical concern is these laws do not allow room for plea bargains. Since
Congress makes the law, it is hard for the prosecutor who might have wanted to lower the
sentence for a plea. The capacity they are in does not allow them to do so, thus making it
hard for the person who was “less guilty” to serve a fewer number of years in prison as the

law forces the whole lot involved in the same act to serve the same amount of years. Critics
feel this law has less of an impact and deem them as an inappropriate way of ruling as they
lead to an increase in prisons, thus making it hard to share the limited available resources.

I noticed that there are many proposed policies on the agenda that are related to healthcare. Some of them are specific to the nursing practice. This creates the opportunity for the nurse to advocate for policies that impact nursing and healthcare directly by providing first-hand accounts and professional opinions supported by research. For instance, the recalcitrant nurse received warnings, punishment for mistakes, and reward for an excellent performance. These restrained her actions and caused her to develop positive behaviors and care towards patients.
In Addition to the application of situational leadership style, she had leadership characteristics such as charisma, honesty, communication skills, creativity, innovativeness, decision-making, and integrity. Combination of the style and the qualities facilitated leading our team initiatives. to create a leader that we were all revered. I noticed that there are many proposed policies on the agenda that are related to healthcare. Some of them are specific to the nursing practice. Combination of the style and the qualities facilitated leading our team initiatives. to create a leader that we were all revered. grinding maize, cooking, cleaning, and nurturing the family.

platform. Our primary research examines H&M, Topshop, and Uniqlo’s Instagram accounts and
revealed the importance of using models, creating effective hashtags, and providing customer
service. The secondary research presents the best practices of social media and how the public
and specific individuals view social media. To conclude the proposal, we will provide a
comprehensive strategy that includes a detailed plan with suggestions for a stellar social media
presence.
Primary Research Summary & Key Takeaways
We have compiled the following key takeaways using Instagram. Our primary research includes
a variety of retailers who specialize in different products and promote to diverse markets.
These three key findings will provide an all-encompassing approach which will ultimately tie
into our strategic recommendations going forward.
#1: Using models to showcase the retailer's products increases follower satisfactions. Each one
of our retailers uses this form of posting. The following three pictures are example images used
by retailers to promote their products through outfit modeling. Our retailers provide
consumers with the option to directly purchase clothing, accessories, and shoes via online
portals. These types of posts provide followers with a visualization of how the products will look
once worn, which is part of the purchasing decision many consumers take into account. In
addition, these types of images also provide outfit inspirations when consumers are in need of
assistance with outfit coordination.

company’s business strategy of revamping basic clothing to make it ‘better’ quality and more

Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Determine at least two (2) factors that can impede this principle and debate the extent to which the court system can overcome each factor. Please also reply to the student Stephanie Little RE: Week 6 Discussion 1 Supranational courts are judicial mechanisms that direct judge’s decisions across international borders and supposedly have a higher legal standing than decisions of courts in individual countries and they are part of a larger trend to promote global human rights and global justice. Supranational courts serve to help provide individual citizens who have exhausted all their legal means of redress but feel they have been wronged by the justice system in a particular country and they hold those responsible for international law violations to a higher standard than are present in domestic courts. The Rome Statue is an international treaty binding only on those states that formally express their consent to be bound by its provisions. Clinton administration signed the treaty in late 2000, but the Bush administration immediately “unsigned” it in 2001. After they “unsigned” the treaty U.S. congress passed American Service
- 2. Members Protection Act, which prohibits American Cooperation with the ICC. This authorizes the president to use military force against the court if it attempts to prosecute an American Citizen. One of the main concerns against the ICC is the fear that the U.S., being as powerful as it is, and with military present throughout the world would be vulnerable to prosecutions. Obama took a different route with this treaty stating they will work with the ICC on prosecution on certain matters. The ICC also prosecutes against a panel of judges that could be walking a fine line of violating the 6th amendment. This is not exactly giving the rights to an accused person in a criminal case, if a panel of judges within that country are reviewing your case. When in the U.S. they have the right to a jury trial. I do believe these concerns are valid, especially with the military. The U.S. military is everywhere, like previously stated, if they could be prosecuted in another country they would become more of a target then they already are. One huge factor that will/can impede this principle is the media. The media will take one small statement they heard and run with it. Then it turns into something else and so on. During larger trials the jury is sometimes not allowed to review the news or any forms of media, due to possible swaying of the case. This keeps the case to only what is heard inside the court room and the facts. Another factor is personal interest in the case. The judge should only use the facts presented in this case and this case only. Do not review or compare to past cases or when this was done this was the result. Please also reply to the student Jeannie Holland RE: Week 6 Discussion 2 The World of Correctional Staff versus Inmate The correctional agency has the obligation of offering an opportunity to all the prisoners to increase positive lives while under incarceration while gaining personal as well as practical working skills to exist a desirable life after leaving prison (Pates & Riley, 2012). However, this goal is rarely achieved as most of the correctional staffs tend to focus more on penalties rather than change and development. It is the environment that the staff’s client that determines what the inmates become after being released. In order for the staffs to promote positive life, personal change, and practical skills I would recommend that they focus on rewarding those that strive to change in order to encourage others to strive higher. In addition, they should incorporate coaching and mentorship with rewards so that the
- 4. inmates can be motivated to change and adopt positive living styles that will, in turn, discourage criminality. This action is effective as coaching seeks to change their mindset and develop a more positive approach towards matters (Pates & Riley, 2012). This can be essential in creating sense and permitting them to choose and those that strive more can be rewarded. The number of male inmates is very high as compared to that of females with a representation of 93.2 percent and 6.8 percent respectively (FBP, n.d). Male are mainly sentenced for crimes related to drug, robbery and sex offenses. This is some of the crimes that are considered to be particularly aggressive and are associated with the highest sentencing period. On the other hand, women are mainly sentenced for offenses related to miscellaneous, domestic violence, drug. These crimes are less violent and are associated with less severe sentencing.
