It discusses 12 basic human mental health needs, such as equality, safety, and freedom. It provides examples of famous heroes from history and fiction who helped satisfy these needs by protecting situations where people could experience "the good life." The training argues that everyone has the power to be a guardian of the good life by acting in ways that create and sustain good situations. It aims to help participants rediscover their ability to positively influence situations.
This document is a collection of essays and stories by Michael Keever. It begins by introducing the author and acknowledging that as an internet blogger, his credibility may be questioned. He realized the irony that while living only for his own gratification, his life was in God's hands. The story then describes how the author was diagnosed with cancer and a brain tumor after his mother passed away from cancer. This tragedy and diagnosis led to a period of clarity and spiritual growth for the author.

3) Most people spent $5 or less on lunch on average. Wet soup fits within typical lunch budgets.
4) The main barrier to soup consumption in warmer months may be mindset rather than viability, as soup requires heating and has

What prompts us to think critically? What holds us back from critical thinking? How can we do more of it? And how can we get others to do it? Show & Tell presents the ideas of Steve Joordens to answer all these questions and more.
The document discusses anorexia nervosa and body image issues. It describes how the author gradually lost weight due to unhealthy eating habits and exercise, going from 110 pounds in May to 85 pounds in January without realizing she had developed an eating disorder. The subtle nature of anorexia makes it difficult to recognize, even for those aware of the signs. Cultural pressures that idealize thinness contribute to body dissatisfaction and dieting among both women and young girls. Ultimately, only those suffering from an eating disorder can truly recognize the problem and choose help and recovery.
Pro-eating disorder blogs negatively impact readers through their content, visuals, and community engagement. The content promotes low self-esteem and weight loss competition. Visuals trigger body dissatisfaction by portraying an unrealistic body ideal. Community engagement hinders recovery by perpetuating unhealthy behaviors and wrong ideals about eating disorders.
The passage describes the death of a General in O'Connor's short story "A Late Encounter with the Enemy". As the General is dying, his death is portrayed as if occurring during battle, with words attacking him fast like bullets. References to past battles such as Chickamauga and Shiloh rush at the General, as he finally faces his past in his last moments.

It celebrates the city's creative community by featuring free admission art galleries, live entertainment, food and drinks. Visitors can wander the streets and experience a variety of art themes presented in the different galleries. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, encouraging people to appreciate the art and community.
This document discusses the concept of a "culture of death" and contrasts it with building a "culture of life". It defines elements of a culture of death as having a wrong idea of man, freedom, and God which can lead to moral delusion, insensitivity, exploitation and violence. The document calls people to confront this culture of death and instead build a civilization based on life and love. An example is given of elephants in India being conditioned from a young age to believe they are restrained by ropes through an imprinted false belief, showing how culture and beliefs shape our actions.
Belissa acknowledges that fear is inevitable but should not be allowed to paralyze you. She advises confronting fears directly by facing them head on. As an example, she overcame her fear of entering high school by simply talking to others and asking questions to learn her way.

This document summarizes Tom Regan's radical egalitarian view in support of animal rights. Regan rejects more moderate positions and calls for the total abolition of animal use in science, farming, and hunting. The fundamental wrong is viewing animals as resources for human ends. Regan argues against indirect duty views, which claim humans only have duties regarding animals, not to them directly. He asserts that all sentient beings have intrinsic worth that grounds equal rights.
The document discusses habits and how they are formed. It explains that habits are conditioned behaviors that we perform routinely without much thought. Old habits, formed over many years through repeated actions, are very difficult to break compared to new habits. Both good and bad habits shape our character and destiny over time. The document advocates forming good habits that improve one's life and breaking any bad habits that cause harm.
The document discusses the power of liberal narratives in politics. It explains that political strategists must sift through large amounts of information and decide what to present to voters, while also engaging them emotionally through cultural narratives. The passage then provides an example narrative about a hardworking family farmer struggling against a wealthy banker, representing the struggle of the working class. This type of narrative aims to garner sympathy and rally voters through an emotional story that promotes liberal ideals.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.
These lecture slides, by Dr Sidra Arshad, offer a simplified look into the mechanisms involved in the regulation of respiration:
Learning objectives:
1. Describe the organisation of respiratory center
2. Describe the nervous control of inspiration and respiratory rhythm
3. Describe the functions of the dorsal and respiratory groups of neurons
4. Describe the influences of the Pneumotaxic and Apneustic centers
5. Explain the role of Hering-Breur inflation reflex in regulation of inspiration
6. Explain the role of central chemoreceptors in regulation of respiration
7. Explain the role of peripheral chemoreceptors in regulation of respiration
8. Explain the regulation of respiration during exercise

To Weigh or Wait – That is the Question…
How often do you weigh yourself – if at all? It’s a question that has always made me wonder – is my daily weighing in healthy or harmful?

There are a bunch of conflicting theories and practices that vary from doctors to dieters to health buffs and fitness aficionados. Some say that
weighing in on a daily basis is a good thing; seeing the numbers on the scale will halt you from overeating and overindulging during meals, or make
you run just a little bit faster on that treadmill during your workout that day.
On the other hand, those anti-scale say that weight loss is truly defined in how your clothes fit and how you feel in them. What’s the best way to gage
a weight loss? Buy a pair of pants at your ‘ideal’ size, eat right and exercise regularly, then 2-3 months later, try on those pants.
While both theories seem like healthy options, I personally prefer the daily weighing in. For example – if it’s Friday morning and I decide that I’m
going to be going out to dinner that evening… and then drinks afterwards… and then the inevitable 4am snack after the club/bar/party… Well,
Saturday morning when I drag my bloated, hungover self onto the scale I shouldn’t be surprised that my weight will most likely have fluctuated about
2-3 pounds from the previous day.
This in turn will keep me in check for the rest of the weekend: I won’t deprive myself of going out and having a good time, but I’ll think twice about
ordering the Texas sized burger and maybe opt for the grilled chicken and veggies. And I’ll still have that drink with dinner… except this time it
won’t be a 1,000 calorie margarita (with the salt, please). Instead I’ll order a nice glass of red wine (which is good for the heart and at reducing breast
cancer – don’t forget October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!).
Which ever side of the fence you’re on – either pro-scale or against –remember that the key to losing weight and staying fit is not by crash dieting;
balanced eating habits (that allow for a few indulgences here and there) and working out consistently are key!
